oilers right now best shot is wildcard but they aren't that far off from total playoff contender.

The Mcdavid effect is real but I don't really want Lucic on the Oilers unless it's a 3-4 year deal.

Sam Morin or Travis Sanheim + 2nd to Edmonton for RNH.

Brayden Schenn to St. Louis for Shattenkirk. (Flyers desperately need RHD, pipeline is stacked with LHD)

    Who says no and where?

You think? A NHL ready (or damn well close to) NHL at a desperate position of need plus a pick (which I guess you could upgrade to a 1st) for a guy at a surplus position who was -9,-12,-12 respectively over the last three years (who makes 6M AAV over the next five years).

I don't think its that bad.

I would normally say that Morin and/or Sanheim could be up with the Flyers this year but it's doubtful because one spot is pretty much locked in with Provorov joining the big club. They'll likely need to ride out both AMac & Streit this year until the expansion draft next year and Streits 5.25M comes off the books next year.

Flyers for 2016-2017 likely looking at

    Ghost/MDZ
    Provrov/Streit
    Gudas/AMac.

I could be wrong but I've heard that RNH faces the toughest competition of all Oilers forwards. When you keep that in mind, plus the fact that Oilers D has been terrible, and that plus/minus is a misleading stat, idk I feel like trading Drai gets them a bigger return on the back end, which is what they need

The Oilers would be trading a legit number 1 center for a prospect who we still know nothing about. I know you can say he could be with the team already but it is still a unknown on how he does in the NHL. The RNH for Seth Jones almost happening is because they already saw Jones potential in the NHL and he has been there for a few years.

Oilers and Blues should do RNH for Shattenkirk

He's been facing Thornton/Kopitar/Getzlaf/ who are three top 10 centers in the league and has been doing fine so he should demand a big hall.

I doubt Edmonton does that without a contract for Shatty in place first

Yeah, any deal surrounding Shatty I think is with the assumption there's a deal in place.

Oilers almost need to start over.

They also have a ton of bums on the team not just young superstars.

    Edmonton Oilers

    good luck.

    Who are the bums?

The only ones I can say are bums are Hendricks, Pouilot and Fayne but those are all just overpaid dudes.

    Not suprising at all.

  20. Start over? They just spent the last several years building up their talent. They're finally in a position to capitalize on all the high picks. Most of their young guys haven't even reached their prime yet. And free agents actually want to go there.

I know they're an easy target to shit on but they can definitely be a good team in a year or two.

It's bonkers to me to think that Edmonton has drafted in the Top 10 for the last 8 years and still are trying to claw their way to mediocrity.

It's crazy how bad management/owners have been in Edmonton. I trust Chia/TMac to at least make them a somewhat competitive team. It also helps that Mcdavid is there for the long run.

The old Oilers are going to be the Canucks with how ownership wants to have a say in the team and try and build a playoff team when they don't have one.
