digging into some advanced stats recently and found something interesting

Even Strength Points per 60 Minutes of Ice time, past 3 seasons combined

    Drew Doughty 0.72
    Adam Larsson 0.72

Stats.HockeyAnalysis.com NHL Individual Player Statistics 201316

now I am not implying Larsson is as good as Doughty overall...but that proves to me that if Larsson got PP time, he would be a 40 point DMan easily

The more I think about it, the more I like the pick of Bean at 13. Brings a new dynamic to our D corps, and should be able to slot in around the time a 32nd team expansion draft rolls around.

Ya I know but unless Nash, staal, or Girardi get moved it's not happening.

Was just thumbing through this thread for the first time and didn't expect to see another Hurricanes fan. I was scratching my head at the Bean pick too...I expected a forward. I am warming up to it though. Just gives us more flexibility in the trade market. There isn't going to be room for Slavin, Pesce, Hanifin, Murphy, Faulk, McKeown, Fleury, and Bean on the blue line a few years out (and obviously not all of them are going to pan out) so we are definitely dealing from a position of strength on the back end. Exciting times!

  9. Solid deal for Forsberg and NSH.

  11. I love the pick. There was such huge run of forwards before our pick the value just wasn't there compared to the defensemen that were remaining. And like you said, Bean brings a different dynamic than the other D prospects we have. He's a PMD which we don't really have considering Murphy hasn't panned out. The interesting part is that he's a lefty (along with Hanifin, Slavin, Fleury). Those three are all developing well so Bean will have his work cut out for him but I like his potential. I really have no idea what we'd do if all four turned out to be what they're projected but it's a nice problem to have.

And the fact we were able the grab Gauthier at 21 makes the Bean pick even better. Gauthier is already big/strong enough to play in the league and may only need one year to continue developing his game before we see him in Raleigh.

Really happy with our draft, and based on what I've been reading a lot of analysts agree.

There's actually a fair few of us in here.
    @Swoos @mattfki5g and anyone else I'm forgetting.

Bean helps us deal from a position of strength in the future, and I don't see much of a difference between Gauthier and any forward we could have grabbed at 13, so picking the bpa was the right choice.

I think that's a good sign for keeping stamkos but ultimately it probably makes sense to trade bishop regardless cause next year $$$ just gotta hope Vassy is going to step up full time this coming season. Would bishop for Klingberg be fair? Assuming Dallas locks bishop up. I saw a beat writer suggest something like that during draft night.

    /Tampa on a Klingberg/Bishop trade.

I doubt Dallas would do that.

  19. I imagine the asking price will be insane. Otherwise, I'd say Canes should be interested. But the price to get him in a trade + the huge contract he's going to want = too much for comfort.

Klingberg is arguably the last piece Dallas would give up.
