Holy shit if Jim Benning actually turned Burrows and Hansen into Dahlen, Goldobin, and a 1st.....that's wizardry

 

That's somehow worse than the Polak deal.

 

Eh, easy to sell off decent parts when the market is this thin and teams are desperate for an upgrade. I don't know why the hell the Sharks think they need Hansen, though.

 

I was mostly being facetious but he definitely looks like the smartest GM coming out of the deadline right now, after last year's travesty. I agree that Sharks did not need Hansen, and their best bet was standing pat

 

Honestly I'm really angry in how some people are acting like Goldobin is some middle tier prospect.

Goldobin had 85 points in 106 games with the Barracuda and last year help carry a Barracuda team with no offense last season. He was our top prospect until everyone got all hung up on Timo Meier because of his draft position.

The maddening part is the Sharks depth scoring is ok. It's not the best but all they really needed to do was boot Haley and keep Hertl as third line center. Jansen was not needed at all and the fact he is potential worth a first round pick is straight up awful.

 

Yeah, it just seems totally unnecessary to give up that for a depth scorer. Guess it could create a trickle-down effect where Hertl is the 3C & Tierney replaces Haley but you could have gotten someone like that for way less. The market is pretty fucked this year, though.

 

Sharks lines before the trade and with optimal lines would have been this:

Labanc - Thornton - Pavelski

Boedker - Couture - Marleau

Donskoi - Hertl - Ward

Karlsson - Tierney - Sorensen/Goodrow/Meier

I would have easily loved that going into the playoffs especially with the Sharks defense also looking amazing.

I didn't even realize at first that Gaborik still has 4 more years on his deal. Pls no one trade for him. Also Goldobin is scheduled to play with the Canucks against the Sharks on Thursday.
