Are the pens definitely trading fleury?

 

In light of Andersen's 5 mil a year contract, Crow's 6 mil a year is pretty damn good.

 

Also idk how i missed this, but Hawks signed their top prospect Nick Schmaltz to an entry level contract the other day. Wasting no time trying to make up for trading Teuvo.

Didn't realize the Leafs only had a year left of Bernier, that's not bad.

 

Anderson is a great goalie. If the leafs land stamkos + draft Matthews that would be unreal.

 

I might be one of the few people out there who doesn't want my team to even try to talk to Stamkos. The way the cap has been going up very slowly should basically scare people off from doing those big contracts.

 

What is Okposo projected to get? I wouldn't go over 7.5m per season but I see some dumb team offering more.

7.5 being the absolute max I'd offer. I think he's potentially worth that but it's still risky in a long term deal.

Islanders beat writer reported his guess for Okposo is around the $7m x 6 years. Islanders fan site said he should realistic make between 6m - 7m when you line up his stats with other similar people.

Idk, that feels like a lot for some reason. Maybe if you're desperate or a bad team trying to get good faster but damn.

 

That's exactly what I think he'll get. More than 7 seems kinda nuts.

 

Ok reading that cleared up the picture a bit. 7.5 would certainly be an overpayment. I'm gonna back away from that number. Although it wouldn't shock me if a team does it.

 

I would love to get Okposo for 6x$6.5

 

Yeah if he's thinking of leaving NYI they could up the number to 7.5. Might have to pay up to keep him rather then to lose him to another team.
I still can't believe they got him for 2.8 over 5 years previously.

 

No point in keeping Okposo when Barzal could take his spot next season for cheap.

 

that's a gamble but it could work out I guess. Tearing up the WHL doesn't mean that much these days.

 

I'd honestly take the gamble over the overpayment. It also helps that if Barzal started with them he be playing along side Tavares and Nelson who can cover for him well.

They could also move Barzal down to 3rd line and move Strome up. They got some options there.

1.5 mil for mat martin
2.5 mil for frans nielsen
1 mil for scott mayfield
1 mil for steven bernier
.8 mil for shane prince

that's already over 10 mil. no room for okposo.

Id imagine Bernier is gone to make room for some of these younger guys. It's also not talked about a lot due to the Stamkos talk but Tavares only has 2 years left on his deal so the Islanders need to start clearing the deck for him. I can't imagine he takes another major hometown discount again with how much he is worth.
