Pretty sure Sashi Brown mentioned a week or so ago at a charity event they've had trade interest in the top pick, so this is probably tied to that. Anything from the scouting side that is leaked is all Garrett. Last piece to come out said it's not even close between Garrett and Trubisky. It would be a pretty big change to not take Myles one.

The way I see it, and I could definitely be wrong, it could be bait for other teams to try and get Myles Garrett. They could be saying "We need a franchise QB more than this amazing and potentially generational (god I hate that word) talent, wow us so you get first dibs on him."

And if that's the case, I honestly think it may be even dumber than taking a QB #1 overall.

But overall they're 100% taking Garrett #1 IMO.

Coughlin has endorsed Bortles from the time being. I don't think we're doing that haha. But I also dont think we are picking up his year 5 option. Deadline is in a couple weeks. He's thrown too many picks.

Chicago has their QB for this season. I cannot imagine them giving up multiple picks to move to #1. Likewise for Jax. San Fran, if they were trading picks, is doing it for Cousins.

Which leaves the Jets, who would have to match the Browns/Eagles trade of last year...which is an insane price for a QB who might still otherwise be there at #6.

I could buy this theory...get someone to come to #1 for Garrett. But even then, the price is too high, and it'd be a huge mistake for the Browns.

Browns start shopping the first overall pick more aggressively at the same time it starts being reported that Trubisky is in play for the first overall pick. Chicago has their QB for this season and San Fran may not be confident in their ability to get Cousins, who knows. You could have three straight pass rushers taken at the top of the draft and still get a pro bowl potential player. You miss out on Garrett and you have at least three other great options. You miss out on Trubisky and you're waiting another year for a shot at a QB.

Yeah, over the next 3 years they basically have enough picks to field 2/3-3/4 of a roster, at a certain point collecting picks isn't worth it.

Regarding pick/asset collection, the Browns FO (namely DePodesta) have said multiple times after their past collection of picks and free agent moves this year that they no longer see themselves in an asset collection phase. They view themselves as having some good players and need to fill around that and improve the W column. That doesn't mean they won't do a trade for picks again, but they would seriously need to be swayed off number one. And like others have already outlined in terms of QB needy teams and the depth at certain positions, I don't see where there is actually a trade to be made. That won't or shouldn't stop the team from trying to drum up the interest though.

That seems like a lot for someone that took forever to sign, and has never played in a 3-4... like this is a very irsay "big splash" move.

    The rivalry is back on

I was excited and then I saw that contract and was much less excited

Probably not a lot of guaranteed money in there though if I had to guess

Damn. RIP to a legend who helped the Steelers stop being a miserable franchise. Possibly no Chuck Noll as the steelers coach without him.

So do they just sell his shares or just change the division of it among ownership?
