There is a startling amount of people in this thread that have been to White Settlement, guess I should visit there too

When I went I never saw a white person there

The only reason I remember that is because of the damn name

It's great if you're already there and Houston has the best barbecue ever but yeah I can't imagine being born outside of Texas and being like "You know where I need to go on vacation? Texas."

I mean SXSW used to be great too but meh

Understandable, we definitely have variable heat too. Like, in the southwest it's all dry and in the southeast it's all humid, and in Texas it's just kinda all over the place

I don't mind the heat but I hate the heat/rain combo we sometimes get

I've lived in Abilene, El Paso, and some little podunk town named Amherst, near Lubbock. I'll never go back to any of them.

Barbecue is my only motive to go to Texas. That and I want to go to a few Stars games.

Only been to Orlando and Destin and I refuse to judge based off those 2 cities since they're as touristy as it gets

I feel bad for the Google cars that have to drive through little towns in Texas

In terms of visiting, Tallahassee, Tampa, Miami, and Key West are all cool. Orlando is my least favorite of the big cities in Florida unless you count Pensacola, for which there is no justification for.

On the topic of Texas, I have been to Austin, El Paso, and Houston in terms of cities. That said, I have driven from Austin to Tuscon (eventually to California) so I have seen a good portion of the southern part of the state up close. El Paso is one of the most depressing places I have been to in the US. Being able to look across to Mexico and see some really run-down communities (not that it was entirely great in El Paso either) made me really appreciate what I have and where I come from.

My ex used to live in El Paso and said the same thing about it and how it made her grateful for San Antonio

And I hate San Antonio so that says something

I took 82/287 all the way through Texas. 14 hours of pondering the irony of wanting to throw myself into traffic on an empty road.

Pensacola has special algae that makes people incredibly ill if you breathe it in so... not a cool place
