Dude come on.. Im not comparing him to Moss as talent but you can't argue with the fact Cooks is their highest profile offensive acquisition since Moss. The Pats don't usually just go get former first round FA WRs like this.

and honestly even if his advanced stats are poor it's not like the Saints really had to force feed him the ball. He naturally racked up 1,000 yards and multiple TDs anyway in an offense full of other options, even getting more defensive attention than anyone else. PFF can say he's not "efficient", he will still be terrifying in NE

Remember that time BB signed Chris Hogan and made him look great?

He racked up 1,000 yards and multiple TDs in an offense that makes receivers productive. Lance Moore once had an 1000 yard season with the Saints, Devery Henderson and Robert Mecheam have approached that mark before. Cooks is a good receiver and better than those guys, but he's nothing special. I'd rather get 5 years of a receiver I take at 32 overall than 2 years out of Cooks and then have to pay him big. Also that isn't a PFF stat, and it doesn't say he isn't efficient, it is purely film study and says he doesn't get open underneath.

When your quarterback is throwing for near 5000 yards and 37 touchdowns nearly every year it's not too difficult to be productive as one of the top 3 options. And again, the "stat" is literally just watching film and seeing if he separates on any given route, I don't see how it can not be completely truthful. It shows him being a good deep threat, it shows him getting open against zone, that is basically right in line with what people knew about him coming out of the draft.

I actually like this deal, it's a bargain. He's not Zeitler but clearly we didnt want to get caught overpaying interior OL since we still have to find another good tackle. And Caldwell has repeatedly mentioned he likes flexibility on the line - Watford has swung both guard positions and played RT.

2 years 6 million for a guy that can move around the line where we are weakest. Not sure how good he is but shit, he might still be a better RT than shitty Parnell...and we are paying him pennies in football terms, so we can cut bait a lot sooner than we did for Joeckel or Parnell if the experiment fails.

What's the last deal you have not liked from the Jags?

So you're saying people knew this coming out of the draft and still valued him in the mid first round? Huh, well I guess that kind of indicates that his skillset is more valuable than you're giving it credit for :)

    Every single one in 2015

They're all gone now too lol Skuta, Parnell, Julius, Odrick, Sergio Brown AND House all got cut in the last few months

Also disliked signing Ivory last year. And we paid Campbell too much considering Malik already got 16AAV and is younger/better investment

I think you just remember me being high on last year's FA class... It's because it actually was a lot better. Amukamara was a good one year deal to use up cap space, he was better than House and then we upgraded again right afterward with Bouye. I'm still quite salty about losing Kelvin Beachum as well, he'd have easily been worth the money by my observation, but it was also no risk to cut him loose since his next 4 years were an option., not guaranteed. Malik is a stud and I don't mind that he's our biggest contract on the books cause he deserves it. Brad Nortman is legit the second best punter in the league (obviously the Raiders have the best). I liked 2016s signings a lot better.

    2.17 touchdowns per game
    2.20 touchdowns per game

I don't get what you are trying to argue here like, at all. Cooks is going to the best team in the league with the best quarterback in the league. A statistic regarding how he beats double coverage is irrelevant considering no one in their right mind will consistently call double coverage on Cooks with Edelman, Allen, Gronk, and Lewis all on the field at the same time. Whatever criticisms you can levy on Cooks, and there are many, believe me I do agree, it's irrelevant when you look at what Cooks still was able to do and the fact that he's going to the one situation better for him than New Orleans.

    Skuta and Parnell aren't gone.

I don't think isolating the "double coverage" rate is fair when its only one of numerous others that are more supportive of my point. His lack of success against man/press and on all the short routes that the Pats offense thrives on, namely. My argument is fairly simple, Pats are throwing a high draft pick on a disgruntled player that doesn't fit their system nearly as well as people think and a player that doesn't add much to their offense given their other pieces. That doesn't mean I think Cooks will struggle there, or that he's a bad player, it just means that I don't think the praise for the Pats here is justified. They could've used those picks to shore up the defense and/or added a talented runner to take pressure off their 40 year old quarterback. Cooks has one or two years left on his current contract, you could have drafted a player that adds more to the team with 32 overall that would be there 4 or 5 years on his rookie contract. Now does it mean much this next year? Probably not, the Pats will still be the Pats, but I think it will mean a lot down the line as Brady gets even older.

Lions signed DJ Hayden and Darren Fells. I like both signings. Hayden is a one year prove it deal, would be nice if he turns it around. Fells is great in pass blocking which is needed because Enron sucks at it. Will be good to run some 2 TE sets
