On that same vein, I've been hearing nothing but good things about Brandon Linder at center. Everyone on the team refers to him as the clear cut leader on the line, a guy who really holds his teammates accountable and isnt afraid to get stern and confront them when they arent performing, and also one of the smartest guys in the film room. Gus Bradley brings him up in almost every press conference this offseason, he recently said he's one of a handful of guys who have really stood out as far as taking ownership of the improvement of this team.

His ability and intelligence as a blocker was already a known fact, someone with a paid account correct me if im wrong, but he was a top 10 guard his rookie year according to PFF. So hearing all these things about his leadership is awesome, making him sound like a damn good late third round pick. I'm excited to see more.

 

Yeah, I'm pretty darn happy about GB's offensive line. JC Tretter has consistently gotten praise as the heir apparent at center and looked okay at tackle last year. Plus, Jason Spriggs has been dominant in camp. Best case scenario, Lindley stays at center, Spriggs replaces Baktiari, and Tretter replaces whichever guard leaves in the offseason. I don't know how much longer Sitton's back can hold up.

 

Is Lindley still hurt or why am I hearing about Tretter starting at center? Did he magically get better? Good to hear Spriggs is worth the pick though.

 

Yeah, Linsley (my first post was a typo) has a hamstring issue. But I hope he overcomes it. His story was a great one-- late round pick who was thrust into the starting role against the league's best defensive front and was humiliated and derided by fans and Aaron. Came back to be a top-5-rated center in his rookie season. Plus, he just seems like a real good dude.

 

I'm not sure that Linsley has play guard, though, so I hope he retains the center spot long term.

Holy shit. Would make sense to hold him out until after week 4 trip to London, so maybe we get to play them while Vontae is out. That's the one Colts defender who seems to have Bortles number in all their matchups.

I'm not saying we should've beat them that bad, because Luck was out... but we put up 50 points the last time Davis was hurt.

It'll just happen after the other team already scored 42. The guy lives off having to play better late in the game and make epic comebacks. It's kind of why I'm not too worried because Luck makes it hard on himself with how aggressive he is. And the team somehow keeps putting more pressure on him having a quicker higher octane passing game and doing less about the rest of the team because it did that to Peyton for over a decade. Even with all their drafted linemen it's not going to show up overnight, the problem is they JUST NOW addressed their O line.

We have the kind of speed on defense to fuck with him in zone coverage and make him think he can squeeze in passes that he can't.

 

i don't know i think his aggressiveness is going to be his downfall plus weapons aren't the best ty hilton is awesome sidney moncreif is good but dwayne allen can't stay healthy so its going to be tough

 

Ryan Kelly is cool, I mean has to be better than aj Quigley and the other trash they used to have at the position.

Yeah, Colts' o-line should be a good bit better. So far (it's preseason, so take it for what it's worth), the pass protection has looked good! I think that's going to be the biggest area of improvement for IND. That little bit of extra time hopefully means Luck won't be pressing as much and can manage the clock/keep the defense off the field as long as possible.

Defense on the other hand is going to be awful. So far, I think 4 starters on an already bad defense are injured/suspended and there's a chance they miss week 1. Pairing that with the non-existent pass rush the team has, it's probably not going to be pretty. Patrick Robinson should be a pretty decent upgrade over Greg Toler though, so it's not all bad in the secondary.

 

Gordon comes back and they trade him. What a Browns move.

the prior coaching staff never seemed to understand that Tannehill is very good on the run/bootleg. Hopefully Gase utilizes this more this year.

 

Steelers hosting Keenan Lewis...

 

Man the Steelers just try so hard to find DB talent that they can lowball. They don't want to actually invest in the position. I think they rely on coaching too much in that area.

 

They picked two players in the first four rounds in the position and then picked two in the first two this year so...

So much pressure on the poor guy to live up to that draft position. But this is why you don't pick kickers early.

 

Sea bass worked out, vinatieri also... Both were pretty bad at the beginning of their careers, let's not wreck the world because a kicker misses a few easy fgs early on
