I know he's just beneath it but just purely based on "tiers" how could you not put Cam in a "tier 1"

 

Well he's only had one year of Tier 1 play and Tier 1 indicates consistent domination. If he has a couple more years close to 2015 production, then no one will even be able to dispute that he deserves to be up there

 

Yep, Im fine with putting Cam as the start of Tier 2 same way Russell Wilson is in Tier 2. In truth, Russel's had more consistent seasons statistically (Cam had more turnovers in his first few years).

Same way a guy like Kirk Cousins, based off 2015 alone, would be top 15...but, its a one-year thing, and his previous years say maybe he's not top 20.

Of course, that makes Mariotta, Winson, etc over guys like Alex Smith hilarious, since they havent produced more than one year.

 

Mariota and Winson being ahead of Cousins, Bortles, and Tannehill...when all of them had either WAY better statistical seasons...is hilarious

 

Yeah like I'll maybe say Winston is on par with Bortles right now, but that's about as high praise as I'll give either of them

And even still I'd say right now Winston is basically a Bortles that isn't very mobile, so he doesn't have that extra element of surprise/moving defenses around.

 

Shaq Thompson has been covering TEs and slot WRs in camp. And doing it well. Panthers are expected to use more of a base 4-3 this season rather than mostly nickel formation.

He's about to have a breakout season.

I would certainly have Mariota over Tannehill adjusting for surrounding talent and slightly for experience. Or just by eye test. Pretty disrespectful to Bortles, though.

 

Fun Fact: The only person who has more rushing touchdowns than Cam Newton since he's been in the league is Adrian Peterson. And if not for six touchdowns, he would have more touchdowns in his career than LeSean McCoy and Matt Forte.

 

Cam should be tier 1 just for winning MVP with Ted Ginn as his #1 WR.

 

He did a lot of this at Washington. I want to know when you guys are going to give him some touches at RB lol.

 

Which puts him at the very top of Tier 2 until he also shows his excellent passing in 2015 is sustainable.

 

I don't find this to be a joke. He actually should.

 

See: The fact that his WR1 literally could not consistently catch uncontested balls while being five yards from the closest defender.

 

Haha that's what I'm saying. Cam absolutely pulled the offense on his back last season. Previous seasons are context but most recent performances take precedent, at least for me personally.

 

His WR1 was Greg Olsen though. Lol

 

The explanation regarding Cam is worse than the ranking. I honestly don't mind/care that they have him ranked #4. It's a dumb ESPN ranking and it doesn't matter. But what they said about him is frustrating. Rather than saying why they ranked him so high, the blurb just rambles about why he isn't good enough to be rated higher. That's just the way people view Cam. It gets old.

 

by the way, Stafford and Flacco are both v overrated.

 

Stafford has had about 1 1/2 good seasons, it's infuriating to watch him

 

I just think Cam needs to be in the same tier as Ben at the very least, whether that be the first or second. His 2015 season was more impressive than any of Ben's, and that's saying something.

 

I actually feel for him-- his supporting cast has been overstated for quite some time. His offensive line is incredibly bad, and Calvin wasn't able to separate the past two seasons.
