Admittedly, I know virtually nothing about Taggert but what I do know is that like...95% of Duck fans are absolutely livid at this hire so that's good enough for me!

They're either bandwagonners or have a short memory and fail to realize they're not at the level other top schools are, especially this year when there isn't a bunch of obvious big hires out there. They'll live.

Baylor fans thought they were getting mike gundy LOL

This is old news. Well, last week's news anyways.

Willie Taggart is a very good hire for them. Oregon isn't a powerhouse school. They were a product of Chip Kelly.

Chip Kelly was a product of bellotti and so on.

And now everyone is going anti spread offense because so many teams were trying it lol football is weird.

All that being said, they have to find a stud DC somewhere... which they probably can't so... why not just punt the program?

Some speculation going around on twitter that Charlie Strong might be in contention to follow Taggart to Oregon to become their DC.

Now that is a move that I wouldn't care for as a Washington fan. That'd be a strong (lol) move.

DAMN. That move would be killer. Though USF wants Strong and so does Cincy.

If strong doesn't get a hc job, I mean maybe. The payoff off making a garbage defense look good will definitely vault him to a better hc job sooner than later. I dont see it, wilcox/sirmon is being thrown out there and is fine I guess. This is assuming you can get someone though...

I'm so down with Strong to Oregon. Keep him outta the AAC.

If they get strong they'll have recruiting experience tied to Texas and even more ties to Florida, that would be a win for them.

I doubt Wilcox leaves Wisconsin...not sure why you would do that. Sirmon I think was primarily mentioned if Dan Mullen was the hire. Either of them would be really good hires as they both have a lot of connections in the PNW.

    Hoping he keeps Brady Hoke.

  13. I wish UNC would get a new DC. Already tired of Chizik's awfulness. What's even more frustrating is the fact that a decent number of fans are rooting for Fedora to take another job so Chizik can replace him.

    Vomit.

Whew. Was scared UW might lose Jimmy Lake for this job.

He does have a house in Eugene LOL

Unfortunately for you I dont think they're keeping anyone on that staff so probably not happening.

  16. Is anyone after Lake right now?

Meh, I really don't care who they hire if I am being completely honest. I think Washington is ahead of schedule this year for where they are at and are only going to continue to become more of a west coast power so Oregon just doesn't intimidate me like they have for the past long while.

There are rumors but the biggest one that I have heard was this SJSU job. He's the Co-DC/Secondary Coach right now, he had the "Co-DC" tag applied last offseason because there was talks of him taking a DC job elsewhere and he got a nice pay bump to go along with it.

Chris Petersen is supposedly in talks on a new long-term deal and one of his main priorities of his new deal was significant pay raises for the assistants so I think it's more likely than not that he will be at UW for a while which is great.

He is an absolute stud and a beast recruiter....just look at who he has recruited for that secondary and who is coming in. Talent for days. They redshirted the best cornerback recruit out of the state of Arizona this year because they simply could due to depth.

Yea, USC and ucla are definitely more worrisome teams plus Colorado since they continue to keep getting better.

I don't really get what the best (insert position here) recruit out of (insert state here) means. It's one thing to be a top 10 or 20 or whatever in the country, but in any given year, how helpful is the depth of a specific position in any given state?
Not calling you out, just always find it a funny thing to pay attention to.

Well for me and the Washington program, this is a kid that we would have had ZERO chance of getting two years ago. He was a heavy Arizona State lean all the way up to his commitment ceremony and when he committed to Washington, it took everybody by surprise because it was something that no one saw coming.

He had offers from A&M, USC, Florida State, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Texas, and so on. I'm just stating that Jimmy Lake played a massive part in his commitment to Washington and being able to redshirt a guy like that because the secondary talent is so deep speaks volumes to his recruiting ability.

If I remember correctly, he was the 8th best ranked CB in the country . I didn't mean my post to brag about the 185th ranked cornerback or anything like that.

All I am saying is Jimmy Lake has built one of the best secondaries in the country with three star talent so I'm excited to see the next step in the progression of his coaching as better players are starting coming here.

Texas recruiting is gonna get hardcore with those new jobs. I give kiffin a few years before making Houston reputable though.
