McElwain makes a hell of a lot more sense than Fleck does. At least McElwain has ties to the NW.

With that being said, hope its Fleck.

I don't know who makes these rumors, but I don't buy into this one at all. I get the idea that McElwain is pretty cozy at Florida and they like him a lot down there. He's basically won down there with absolutely no quarterback or wide receivers and I feel like they can only get better. Don't care if he's from the Northwest... Florida is absolutely a top notch gig that you don't leave.

Haha just seeing that SMU's coach - who has a record of 7-17 - turned down the Baylor job. Good. Fuck that school, hope they never find a coach.

In order of guys I think are good fits

Fedora (don't see him leaving unless it's for Texas but who knows)
Mcelwain (don't think he leaves FL)
    Brian Kelly (doubt he leaves)
Chip Kelly (doubt he returns after the sanctions and he said he's staying in the NFL)
PJ Fleck (rolling the dice on someone people love isn't bad)
Bryan Harsin (he's been good and it worked for Washington, went to school in eastern Oregon)
Kyle Whittingham (doubt he ever leaves and if he does it's for a powerhouse)
Mike macintyre (doubt he leave but would be a crazy steal after how he's rebuilt the buffaloes)
Scott Frost (doubt he comes back this soon)
Willie Taggart (hardly seen his name come up but he's done a phenomenal job at USF and some big school will steal him)
Phil Montgomery (Tulsa has been much better but not hot on him)
Dana holgorson (weird guy, doubt it)
    Lane muffin (ew)
Greg Schiano (dude hasn't even made OSUs defense look that good and they are loaded, never had a prolific offense in Rutgers also)
    Dan Mullen (no)

The rankings were given like 0 thought because it's 6am but I tried

the thing is, everything i've been reading has said oregon wasn't going to pay helf's buyout just to land a Go5 guy. now, if that ends up being all they can land, that makes sense, but id imagine fleck and harsin are a lot lower than some of those guys

Phil knight is the worst but he's also rich as hell. There's no doubt they know they have to get someone good if they can. I doubt its anyone big just because there isn't anyone big who's just obviously available. If its Schiano than they should be ready for an empty stadium most games and to be bashed in most papers.

There seems to be more steam picking up with Schiano.

As a UW fan, please happen.

Also with Fleck....would he be able to pull 4/5 star kids out of CA/TX and keep local OR studs home which are leaving to UW now? I'm not sure he would be able to.

Lincoln riley is coming up a lot now. Phil knight said its gonna be a coach who is "fun to watch" or whatever which makes everyone thinks its fleck. Whoever it is will suck so who cares.

I feel like recruiting would be one of his strongsuits.
Okay cool it with the UW talk... haha

You guys have had your 12 years of fun so now its my turn. I've had to live with Oregon fans (many who CERTAINLY were NOT Oregon fans before their success) talking their shit for the longest so now you guys have to hear it from me.

UW is the new big boy of the Pac-12 N and unless Chris Petersen dies, I'm not sure that is changing.

Also on Fleck....I don't doubt the guy can recruit but he's really only had one single good year at WMU (this year) and that roster isn't exactly top rated studs which Oregon is accustomed to getting.

I'm just not sure if he'd be able to recruit against the big boys over here with the fact that I'm not sure he's ever recruited this side of the country.

What sucks for me as a lifelong Oregon fan is that I'm a huge Chris Peterson fan so I can't even really be unhappy that Washington is good again lol

Haha I know I know, as much as it pains me to say it I'll be rooting for ya'll in the playoff.
We'll be back though, Uncle Phil's 73 after all..

Yeah Fleck doesn't quite have the pedigree yet but I do feel like he has the personality and charisma (being pretty young helps) to be effective recruiting the top guys. The Oregon brand still has a lot of equity with high school kids and I think(hope) pairing that with a young exciting HC like Fleck could pay off.
