Clemson has one more loss and they aren't better than Louisville? Or vice versa? Or if they were in different divisions? These are such arbitrary measurements.

I think record is the most relevant measurement. I think winning versus losing is very important. That's why the qualification for bowl eligibility is six wins, not 800 points. Other than that, I think we can agree to disagree at this point lol. Hell if I know what the CFP committee will decide. Lol

Edit: and including the division and conference in my previous post was just to say that they face similar opponents in conference. They both have one loss in the ACC, and thats very different than having one loss in the Sun Belt, or even the SEC East this year. If they were in different conferences, it would muddy the conversation more IMO

Based on eye test, who are each of you more scared of: Clemson or Louisville?

I'd say playing to their full potential, Clemson. Based on how each team has played thus far, I'd go with Louisville.

Well I'm obviously biased toward Clemson.

Louisville has the best player in the country. But I still think Clemson has a scarier team overall. When they don't beat themselves, they can beat anyone. I'm still waiting for Clemson to put all the pieces together for 4 quarters, though.

What is everybody predicting for the playoff rankings tomorrow?

    Mine:

    1) Bama
    2) Ohio State
    3) Louisville
    4) Michigan
    5) Clemson
    6) Washington
    7) Wisconsin
    8) Penn State
    9) Oklahoma
    10) USC/Colorado (lean USC due to the H2H win over Colorado + victory over UW)

Could flip Washington/Wisconsin and I wouldn't have a major beef with it.

Lamar Jackson. I'd bet on being able to out-coach Dabo.

I'd rather play Louisville than Clemson.

Also hoping Wisconsin moves up a spot at least

So West Virginia, Western Michigan, and Troy are better than Wisconsin? How you win/lose is more important. For example, last year people would say Nebraska was a very bad team. Those people didn't see BYU, Miami, Illinois, and Wisconsin win on the final play. 10 seconds was the difference between a six and ten win team.

That's true, I get that. LOU just looked more impressive to me in those common games. FSU and NC State in particular.

If I was you, I'd say the same thing. But Nebraska? Nah, they can't play an elite player. And LSU? They can out coach Dabo haha

Washington lost their leading tackler in Azeem Victor for the rest of the year on Saturday and their best pass rusher is done for the season as well (hasn't played in a month).

I do not want to see Washington-Alabama at all now....didn't have much of a thirst before for it but now certainly want no part of it.

You don't think they can win out ?

No, I think they can and will.....I just want no part of playing Bama.

I think UW can play with any team in CFB if they bring their A game (which they did not at all on Saturday) EXCEPT Bama. I don't think that one would be pretty.

They just aren't there on a talent level just yet. They're going to end up with a Top 10 class in 2017 and so they are well on their way but for now, they just don't have the horses to play Bama, imo. It'd be ugly.

Obviously CFP is best for the University in terms of $$$ and all that but I'd rather win the Pac-12, be left out of the CFP by the committee and go play a much more winnable Rose Bowl game.

I had this season pegged at 9-3/8-4 and maybe an Alamo Bowl game or another significant step towards building the program. Never did I ever think they'd be in the running for the playoffs let alone winning the Pac-12.

So the program is well above what I expected and so this is a basically house money for me right now. I'm just going to enjoy the ride at this point and see what happens.

In my defense I did say most relevant, not the only relevant measurable. Lol Obviously SOS matters

It's actually to beat Arizona State....a team we haven't beaten in ten years lol.

Wait. this is the same team you were arguing with me that should be a shoe in at 4 and possibly even 3? where'd the confidence go?

I saw a few things in person on Saturday that knocked me down a few pegs.....

Our size on defense simply does not mesh up with the big boy rosters right now. The two big injuries on our defense hurt an insane amount and the replacements showed that clearly on Saturday. Any time our rush ends or an OLB tried to get in the backfield, the two tackles for USC (who are massive) just swallowed up any pressure we were sending and Darnold had all day and as good as our secondary is, they can't hold coverage forever when we can't get home.

Coaching. Last year, the Huskies lost a number of conference games by one score or less and most of the time, it came down to offensive playcalling by OC Jonathan Smith. The Huskies offense this year has been one of the best in CFB under Smith but at the beginning of the season, they brought in Jeff Tedford as an offensive consultant and it seems like a ton of credit goes to him.

He was hired away this past week to be the new HC at Fresno State and suddenly this week, the offensive looked like shit under Smith (and only Smith).

I allowed myself to get a little carried away with the success of a college football program which is something I've never experienced. Again, I said this team is still a year or so away (as I said in the offseason) and that is now showing to be the case. They are starting to get the recruits needed to play with the big boys and they are on their way.

I still think of they make the playoffs, they can compete with most.....they're still a good team, they just ran into the buzz saw that is USC who appears to be mowing over anything in its path under Sam Darnold.

i'm writing a book, leave me alone.

if there's any silver lining, it could be that sometimes Alabama no shows bowl games. however, usually those are games that aren't for or on the way to the NC (Utah and Oklahoma bowl games come to mind).

  21. If Ohio State doesn't win the Big Ten how should they be in the final four?

  22. iam1bearcat

i'm writing a book, leave me alone.

There is a lot of talk that two teams would be in the final four from the Big Ten. If Wisconsin wins the title, people say OSU should be in because they beat Wisconsin. If Penn wins, people say "well, it was a good / close loss so they should be in" and some feel they are the best, current, one-loss team.

IMO, everyone seems to be assuming they beat Michigan, which I think would be a massive oversight.

  23. That makes sense - the prediction above had OSU as the only big ten team so he must be assuming PSU loses to Rutgers or Michigan State

That Oklahoma game may have been the worst. Coming off that stupid kick six Auburn game and having a sure fire ticket to the title game taken away by your biggest rival. Just ugh. Utah game was similar bc they lost a heartbreaker to Tebow in the SEC championship game.

The only time Alabama truly got beat in a bowl game without any distractions or lack of motivation was against Ohio State. That was definitely the better team. I still can't say that about Oklahoma or Utah.

I think the committee is going to say Ohio states resume is better and they'll use the head to head argument in the end. nudging out Wisconsin.

Wisconsin should be rooting for Michigan
