Oh my sweet summer child. Move to Florida. Prices are higher, pay is lower, and there is less of a reason to be here haha

I've been 2 times, once in a school trip because I was a nerd (still am, I guess) and another time with my aunt. I would love to take my kids, but that's pretty much impossible with my youngest son due to the amount of people and the noise.

Really? I thought Tampa was very reasonably priced...

Tampa maybe. Never looked at it cause it's a shit hole. Jacksonville isn't bad priced. And Austin isn't either actually. That is more of a statement on how good San Antonio is haha.

Tampa's much nicer than it was when I moved from there a decade ago. They've done a lot of revitalization work in key areas. I was surprised to really enjoy my visit there a few weeks ago.

Yea, I've never had a bad time in Tampa but idk I don't live there. I imagine that's way different. I have a friend who lives in the area but they come from a stuffy background so I assume wherever they live is in a nice suburban area far from the shittyness you speak of.

ideally i'd like to get to nashville or austin but we'll be in charlotte at least for the next couple of years, which is nice enough in its own right

Came real close to doing Charlotte this time but Austin won out. Which is good because that's where I was trying to go when I ended up in Jax haha.

Nashville is a blast, but I found it more expensive than Tampa (went to both this month).

complimentary brisket might be enough for me to convince my fiance that her job in charlotte isn't worth it

Pac-12 thread representative here just to let you all know Seattle and basically the Pacific Northwest in general is a v. cool place to work and live.

That was an issue for me. Charlotte is cheaper and a lot more walk friendly in the neighborhood I'd be in.

Yeah, expensive as shiiiiit though haha. Love the area to death but the amount it'd cost me just to get out there is a quarter of a year's rent in Austin. Maybe someday though.

    Yessir. December 1st.

I will take you up on that. What forum is that haha

Loooooove Seattle. Lived in Yakima for a summer internship and got to spend time in Portland and Seattle. Great area. But also expensive.

I haven't been outside of Charlotte's airport since I was 12, but that's a city I need to spend more time in. I love Asheville.

Haven't actually been. Just researched the hell out of it. I hear great things though haha.

Lol yeah....I can't argue that. My job gives me roughly an extra 17K per year just because of my locality. It's getting worse too...thankfully I had my home built a few years ago and don't have to deal with the soaring rent/home prices.

lived in olympia when i was a toddler and the pictures of the area we still have look wonderful. part of me has always wanted to get back to that area, but i doubt it will happen besides visits at this point, though my fiance is similarly open to that area of the country

Oh nice. Some close college friends (sisters) just moved there, and I might have a kinda sorta flirty thing with one of them that I can't read well, so maybe I'll get to go check it out soon, haha. My only time in Charlotte as a kid I broke my hand visiting family friends just outside the city.

Yeah the rent increases were really worrisome. Initially was thinking Tacoma at first but then their increases were even worse haha.

Great little town. Couldn't live there long term, though.

Oh I was just talking about members who live in Texas, there is a DFW thread since most of the regulars that live in TX are there. Not sure how many are out in the SA/Austin area.
