10+ years ago he was the first sports writer who combined writing from a fans perspectice along with pop culture references. No one else was really doing it, so he built a large fan base early on. There are now people doing it better, but he has been able to retain a large number of fans.

The more I think about Kyrie requesting a trade, the more I think he's ruining his career. What a brutal look it is for a guy on a team who is likely going to its fourth straight championship (with or without him) to request a trade because he's playing with one of the top 2 players of all-time. Just an incredibly bad look.

And once (if) he is traded, my God the pressure that will follow him now. Everyone will look at him and expect him to do all of this on his own, which he had a really, really tough time doing before LeBron joined him. Now, I do think he'd be better leading a team this time around as he's older and has championship experience, but it's just a really, really bad look and insane amounts of pressure will follow him.

  3. He'll probably lead the league in scoring and win an MVP while winning less than 40 games while being "the star." Doing it this year makes no sense. Play one more year with James, then no one will care what you do once he leaves and you'll have none of the scrutiny or pressure and can try and go wherever you want.

He was like this before Lebron.

Honestly, the Knicks can get Kyrie if they give up unprotected picks.
That team is going to be bad and I can bet on it to continue. I'm sure the cavs can get someone good with those picks.

Kyrie wanting out makes perfect sense to me tbh,
Bron is 32 and most likely leaving next year. Not to mention the fact that the Cavs did nothing to get better this off-season and are generally a train wreck at the moment. They aren't good enough to win the title.
I don't see how you can fault 25 year old Kyrie for seeing the writing on the wall and wanting to actually have some agency in his career for once rather than having every little thing decided by LeBron.
As soon as Bron leaves and the Cavs get nothing in return Kyrie is right back where he started playing for a mismanaged franchise with a middling supporting cast.

    Go do you Ky

What's the likelihood of Gilbert agreeing to trade Kyrie once LeBron leaves?
I don't think he'd want to blow the whole thing up and risk fans not coming to games anymore.

  9. I think you're underestimating how awful Gilbert is

Good luck to D. Rose in Cleveland. For a pg who's struggled with injuries and not having an outside shot...he was solid last season at 18ppg. Hopefully this year he's able to take two steps forward.

I'll call it right now....especially if/when Kyrie leaves....LeBron will be MVP.

Except the reports are he doesn't want to play with LeBron...so if he believed LeBron was leaving, then why not tough it out one more year (and by tough it out, go to Finals) and then still have opportunity to lead franchise and play for super max?

This has nothing to do with LeBron potentially leaving.

Rose was much worse last year than his stats let on

  13. Would you trust the Cavs management without LeBron to win any games or help you?

They'll have the cheapest roster in the league as soon as Lebron's gone

If I'm Kyrie? Let's not forget, Kyrie is the only player on the roster who did NOT sign up to play with LeBron. He signed his 5-year max extension before LeBron, so I don't see why he wouldn't do it after him, to be honest.

  16. Because he saw the turmoil of the front office since he did that, and, like most players, probably doesn't wanna play in CLE for the rest of his career. It makes the most sense to take the money in that first deal, and get out of their after if you felt that way. Never forget how much Dan Gilbert sucks.

I don't think LeBron leaves, BUT IF he were to leave, having Kyrie and Love as building blocks is still a lot more than most teams in the NBA. I know their record w/o LeBron is abysmal but if they had entire offseason/training camp to build team/offense around Ky/Love, they'd be a pretty decent team stilll. Especially in the East.

if Lebron just retired, the Cavs would make the playoffs but have no chance for a championship

Cavs fans have made it through being forced to watch one of our top #1 picks leaving the team in the past and I think we'll make it through once again.

Obviously the world of athletes is much different from our normal humdrum worlds, but a year is a long time.

imagine spending that year with someone you no longer wish to be around (to what extent we don't know, but certainly bad enough to speak up about it and want a trade knowing it would raise eyebrows and make you look bad in almost everyone's eyes) who dictates everything that happens on the team.

    all the practices
    all the press conferences
    all the games
    all the film study
    all the treatment / recovery

lotta time spent with someone you don't want to be associated with anymore

what i can't get is why Kyrie had the meeting / let this info out when he did. why not sooner, like before the draft? think that may have worked more in his favor / gave more options to get out easier.

He got his ring and he's got his money; I wouldn't want to play with Lebron either. As good as they were, I've always hated having teammates like him.
