It's going to be hilariously terrible...just like the first Melo trade.

Wow. That's early. Are they like completely eliminating back to backs then?

I see they also changed where each team only gets 2 timeouts in final three minutes of the game. Casual fans probably like that because it'll speed up the game, but man, I don't like that change at all. Going to cost some teams some games, especially in final seconds when they can't advance ball to half court.

I don't mind new timeout situation, especially the elimination of a few "tv TOs" in the 2nd and 4th quarter.

Also like that they are punishing free throw shooters who walk beyond the 3 point line.

Yea, I'm guessing we'll see fewer back to backs.

I disagree with you on the timeouts. The last two minutes of close games can be the worst. Absolutely no flow to the point where it's more frustrating to watch than entertaining. If teams lose because the players can't figure out what to do on the court without a timeout, then they don't deserve to win the game. Let the better team prevail.

As a die-hard fan though, I'm not watching to be entertained or for flow. I'm watching hoping my team wins, no matter how slow or ugly the game is. I couldn't care less if final 2 1/2 minutes took a real-time 30 minutes to finish. I also disagree with the 'can't figure out what to do on the court without a timeout' statement. There could be 26 seconds left in the game, a team could play flawless defense for 23 seconds and offensive team hits some prayer of a shot leaving 0.8 seconds left on the clock and then the team who has to inbound ball is pretty much done with no chance to advance ball to half-court (hypothetically if they're out of timeouts). I mean, I get that maybe that's the way it should have always been (i.e. college), but it's always been the other way around in the NBA.

I guess teams will just have to learn to save a timeout for the final seconds and manage their timeouts better in the final three minutes.

Honestly, if they want to speed up the game, they need to stop going to Instant Replay every three minutes and then spending 8 minutes looking at the play. That's been an enormous time-killer in my opinion. Maybe only give a team a certain amount of replay opportunities and then there's a 1-minute limit to look at the play.

Yea, but what about the games where your team isn't playing? The other team isn't under a different set of rules. If your team hits that shot with 0.8 seconds on the clock, I bet you'd be pretty pleased. Also, in that 0.8 scenario, the other team hits a prayer of a shot and the only chance to beat them is to... hit a prayer of a shot? Teams will just have to manage the clock and timeouts better.

I'm a die hard basketball fan. My team is the Bulls and I'll watch as many of their games as I can regardless of how bad they are. But there's way more basketball out there then just my team. I watch a lot of games where I'm completely neutral to the outcome. I want those games to have some flow throughout.

I dunno, the amount of stoppage in basketball and the other major US sports has always annoyed me. The less of that, the better. The replay center definitely needs a massive reboot.

I love the timeout change. It needs to be done in college, and even high school as well. There are just too many timeouts at most levels of basketball.

They must have promised LeBron that they won't change the seeding. Or they know they won't want to until lebron is gone.
