When I lived in Charlotte and we were still the bobcats you could get seats in the 5th row for 25 bucks for some games. And once a month they did a canned food drive. Bring in a canned food. Get a seat in the uppers.

 

Dark times. I remember when I saw Kobe's final game in Charlotte right before the end of 2015, and had never been more thankful I bought tix like 2 months in advance for that game, because I was going with a friend who loves the Lakers. I think we paid 160 for a pair of good seats. Once Kobe announced his farewell tour, tix for that game sold out so quick. That place was so loud and sold out.

 

It's so boring when it's empty but I love going to the big games that are sold out. The playoffs games were crazy.

 

Gah I bet. Had I not had just had a newborn right then, I'd have been at Game 4.

how different would the sports world be if contracts were based on production / task based? imagine a basketball player signing a 4 year $100M deal but they had to play at least 60 games a year, average 20 PPG and 5 RPG. and if they didn't meet the criteria they'd have to pay a portion of that year's salary back...

obviously there are flaws and loopholes teams themselves would try and sneak around (like we see with trades / cuts before bonuses and major milestones) but it would make for an entirely different sports landscape.
