That's not the point. His point was there'd be less busts if all NBA teams had a D League team to allow players to learn and grow. The Cavs had that opportunity and didn't use it. Probably because being sent down to the D-League has a bag stigma to it. And honestly, when most NBA players do get sent down to D-League, they tear it up. There's a wide margin of talent difference between the 10th player on an NBA team and a starter in the D-League. This isn't baseball where it takes 5 to 6 years to groom 18-20 year olds. The D-League has very few success stories and even then, most of them are still bench or role players.

The Bucks are so damn entertaining. Obviously bummed that the Bulls lost, but I think I more annoyed that they mounted a late comeback attempt and took away Thon Maker time.

I agree with that. It's the worst draft class I could ever remember and I remember the night of the lottery, before the Cavs won the No. 1 pick, I was praying they wouldn't get it. There's no way any player in that draft could have lived up to the No. 1 pick hype.

Didn't help he was painfully out of shape too.

I wasn't actually talking to his point. Wasn't paying attention to that conversation. You can't say the D-League didn't save the guy if he never even had a chance to develop there though. I was simply pointing this fact out.

One of the problems with the D-League is that lack of continuity though. It's tough for a player to develop if they're constantly moving between different D-League teams with different systems. This two way contract deal is another step towards legitimizing it and making it a true minor league system. It gives guys with potential a more focused development process.

I said that because I was talking to his point. So you can't say I can't say something when you admitted you weren't paying attention to conversation. My point was Cavs DID have a D-League team that could have helped Bennett and they didn't use that opportunity, which in turn couldn't save him. So the point was, if every team has a D-League team, doesn't mean you can prevent busts. There is still a stigma of sending guys (especially high picks) to the D-League. It's not a good look.

I completely forgot about Bennett. Easily the worst #1 pick, so at least that argument is settled.

A lot of things went wrong for him to become such a bust. He looks okay when he comes off the bench for the nets, his shooting is still a question mark but he's played defense and rebounded at a decent level.

Bennett allowed the Cavs to suck which gave them the opportunity to get the number one pick and land Andrew Wiggins and trade for Kevin Love, which propelled them to two straight NBA Finals and the franchise's first championship. Great pick imo.

Yeah but now if everyone gets a D-league team you can help get rid of that stigma in the coming years because it could become far more common like it is with baseball. I agree that to start the talent level will probably be a big difference from 10th man to regular D-leaguer but that will only improve in time once more teams take advantage of it.

This is the Bulls team I expected at the beginning of the season. Bucks straight smacked them two games in a row.

Blazers really need to figure out an internal solution to get things turned around. Pretty sure they have a top 3 total team salary, so they are somewhat limited in what they can do.
