I almost included Avicii - Levels so I’m glad it’s popped up on a list. My HM would’ve gone on for hours so I didn’t write it out.

 

If I had doubled up on artists there would be at least four Isbell songs on my list.

 

This is my least favourite decade, but also the decade in which I listened to more (mostly new) music than ever before, because of streaming. Anyway, I just threw something together real quick, with a focus on songs that I came out that decade that I still listen to a lot now (with the exception of Tennis Court maybe, it had been a while before today, but that's still a hard song).

That's probably my only skip in Isbell's catalog. It's a much better live song than an album song.

cover me up isn't a top 10 isbell song for me

not trying to fight, he has a great voice, his ballads just do nothing for me and i prefer the stuff more along the lines of DBT and generally his more recent albums.

 

Agree that "Super 8" is a little bit limp on record. Total barnburner live, though.

 

Wild to me to include this much NHA but not Falling in Love Again. On most days I think that’s their best song.

I don’t know how the instrumental for Im God would count here. It was released in 09 as a track with lil b, dropped as an instrumental later and then officially got cleared and released later. Im God rules through.

Clams absolutely killed it on Im God. I've always been skeptical about Lil B's actual contributions, but Christ the music was incredible.

I'm right in the middle. I love the clever word play Isbell will use in his ballads, and the soft slide solo he tends to utilize in them, where I also would love if he focused on an album of Never Gonna Change style rock. I think his playing often gets overshadowed by his lyrics which is a shame.
