I don't like much of that album either, so there won't be any dying alone.

Gonna give the second Taylor Hawkins & The Coattails Riders a spin tomorrow. Heard a track on shuffle today and truly enjoyed it. Was actually bummed to realize that the first album of his from '06 is not on streaming.

mbdtf is hardly my favorite kanye album and i haven’t listened to it in forever but “mediocre” is a bit strong

the dude mostly votes for pop punk and buttrock, who cares. it isn’t his bag that’s fine

These years really start to produce COUNTLESS bands/artists/songs that have been, as someone mentioned, "memory holed" - I like that term but it has a bit of a negative connotation to it. What was the term @Craig Manning used a few weeks back about the mp3 "lost" years?

Heard this one today and it made me remember I really enjoyed this album in 2010, and this song at least holds up. Not sure what happened to this band, I think they released maybe one more album after this? They were maybe too earnest to really catch on with critics, but too quirky/folky (?) to fit in with the scene stuff. Anyway, I think this is a great little pop song with some unique instrumentation.

    That's the one, thank you.

Yeasayer probably falls into that too - albeit they were a bit more well-known at least with the P4K/S'gum crowds.

Their album from 2010 really holds up for me, the right mix of their psych-pop weirdness and just awesome catchy melodies.

Yeah not only 2/3 overlap but both in the same spots.

Ironically, while my #1 is the same, my list I made IN 2010 has completely different albums at 2 and 3. Time does interesting things.

Strongly advocate for anyone looking for a random listen to give the Casey Sullivan album a go. For an independent, no budget artist, it’s a pretty fucking remarkable debut.

I mean, if Kanye doesn't get it, surely Kendrick will be the first rapper to win, right.... right?

Yeah, my top 3 back then was (I think) Chad, Jimmy, and Butch. And then I think my next two were Cary Brothers and Brandon Flowers. I didn't do a great job of guessing what was going to stick with me from that year.
