i don't feel like i've heard "next kubrick" about him as much as nolan, unrightfully so, and PTA, probably rightfully so. but I suppose I could see people saying that. the "next Kubrick/this will be his 2001" discourse surrounding interstellar was insufferable

It was one of the worst films of that year and if you had told me he would go on to become a big blockbuster director it would have seemed impossible.
