Many of my favorite artists/bands released albums this year, but with the exception of Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavilion I feel that they pretty much all released albums that seem to be lesser inclusions in their respective discographies.
I'm like trying to think of a seismic shift in the industry or something that happened this year, but it's def that dark period where CDs weren't selling anymore and streaming wasn't a thing yet. Lots and lots and lots of MP3s and burned CDs.
I’m biased because the album was profoundly influential in starting Hailey, but while I’ll give you the electronics themselves being less sophisticated than she’d get later, on a song-for-song basis it’s a staggeringly good debut. “Quiet” is still her single best song for my money.
As said by others, a less impressive year than those before it, but still some big ones for me. 1. Kevin Devine - Brother’s Blood 2. Thrice - Beggars 3. Is there allegations about POS, or is that from a musical perspective that his music hasn’t aged well?
