1. Pearl Jam - Pearl Jam 2. Mastodon - Blood Mountain 3. Incubus - Light Grenades Pearl Jam brought the band to Europe after 6 years, and I went to see them a couple of times. Even to this day, those two shows stand as the best shows I've ever been to. Just incredible. The album itself... I don't go back to it a whole lot, but it means the world to me. Blood Mountain is the shit. Sleeping Giant and This Mortal Soil are otherworldly. Light Grenades is underrated as hell. Excruciating cuts: My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade Audioslave - Revelations Really liked: Head Automatica - Popaganda John Mayer - Continuum
I forgot to put this one on my list, because I hadn't seen it pop up anywhere while researching what came out in 06. Great R&B album. I listened to it A LOT back then. His first one from 03 is great too.
Cheers - great list. What were the two shows in Europe you went to? Curious to look at the setlists ... '06 had some absolutely epic ones.
Grand Unification by Fightstar isn't on Spotify, at least not in my region. Odd. The rest is all there.
Wanted to give a shotout to Papa Roach's "The Paramous Sessions" which has a ton of slutty bangers on it. They were supposed to do a tour with H.I.M and Lostprophets in 2006 which got cancelled due to poor ticket sales. The LP record is also pretty great for a big glossy hooky rock record standpoint but we all know what happened with that band.
I wasn't a Papa Roach listener before ("Scars" being the exception, it was unavoidable and a good song) or after that album, but that album somehow came on my radar back then and I listened to it a lot. Haven't really liked anything I have heard from them since however. Some of it I actively hated.
1. The Killers - Sam’s Town 2. My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade 3. Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am… I am bored by my own picks, but I like what I like! First two are interchangeable, really. Both in my top ten.
I think it's the most representative of their sound as a band. From the 80s-style power ballad of "What Do You Do" to the punk-infused fury of "Devise My Own Device".
1. +44-When Your Heart Stops Beating In 2007 I went through a horrible break up, needed some music. I knew I liked Blink's self titled, and I wanted more like that, and I heard Mark had started his own band and put out an album. Man the mood on this one was pretty perfect. There's like 4-5 albums I spun a lot while going through my months of post break up depression and binge drinking and this was one of them. Some perfect lyrics for my situation and the feelings I was having and etc. I really wish new Blink had more of this album's mood TBH haha. Nine comes a little close I suppose. Favorite tracks include Baby, Come On, 155, title track, Weatherman, No It Isn't...but really I like pretty much every song on here. 2. Taking Back Sunday-Louder Now There's no denying, at least for me, that this is a step down from WYWTB. I definitely just liked the style of TAYF and WYWTB more. BUT this is still a really well written rock album. MakeDamnSure was everywhere. The only two songs I can't really get into at are Up Against, which always kind of sounded like a generic attempt at writing a TBS song lol, and I'll Let You Live, which...idk...just never really got into it. The first three tracks is a killer way to start the album. My Blue Heaven is REALLY good, even if Fred's parts are mostly just repeating adam's, I still love the way they use it there. I didn't realize Miami was so divisive among the fanbase, but that guitar solo and bridge/outro is fun as hell. The harmonizing on the Error: Operator chorus is an ear treat IMO, despite the repetitiveness of the chorus itself. 3. Dashboard Confessional-Dusk And Summer I also did not realize until this website/AP and reading the dashboard thread that this was a divisive album in the fanbase. I think it's a pretty damn great album, probably because I was only loosely listening to dashboard at the time and thus wasn't super invested in the OG acoustic sound. Part of what got me into this is that same g/f that was making mixes, I had seen the lyrics to the title track in her AIM profiles lovejournals and such. Such a beautiful song with beautiful lyrics. When I went through the break up, some of the tracks on here really got play for me, including the title track and so long, so long. Don't Wait is a great way to start the album. Stolen almost got played at my wedding but we ended up playing Hands Down instead (and Heart Beat Here was our first dance haha). I have to get to a doctors appoint so might keep this shorter than usual, but others.... -Much like +44, one of the other albums that was HEAVY in my depressed/drunk state was Devil and God. I didn't put it in my top 3 because I didn't want to take away points from other bands/nor give this band points. But if JL wasn't such a huge fucking scumbag of a person, this would have been my true #1. The quick story is my friend knew I was depressed, volunteered me to drive two girls from his dorm floor to attend a BN concert in Philly in spring 2007, and that's where I heard some of the lyrics to this album for the first time. Naturally, it fit my depressed AF mood. BOught it that week and literally spent so much time driviing around screaming the lyrics and falling asleep with my headphones on listening to it. It was my comfort food, if comfort food is "Hey you're depressed as hell and clearly so are these songs". Can't tell you how many times I got startled out of sleep by the "Where you've been" part in those like 6-8 months after my break up. It has a special place for me because of that, it was the only album whose songs I wasn't immediately skipping when all the news came out. Or, at least it was the songs I started listening to again after kind of dropping them off my shuffle for a few months. I just don't' recommend them to people I know need that type of music anymore for obvious reasons. -Black Parade was the singles that finalyl really made me like MCR more than just a casual listen when I caught them on the radio. The singles from Black Parade were huge and I loved them. Gave me a newfound love for Helena and Ghost of You as well. -Okay I really gotta go to my doctors appointment but there's so many other songs and artists I want to talk about so maybe later. But 2006 was my graduation from HS so, lots of memories attached to lots of songs from this era.

Feel like Dog Problems is an album I would have expected to win this easily at one point in the last 16 years (or come in second to a not yet tainted TDAG). Now that we’re into the ap.net as a thriving online community (lol) years it’s funny to see what opinions/bands have most survived the rest of time.
Definitely, though an opinion that I feel was/is popular here (that I do not share!) is that they peaked later whereas Dog Probs is the consensus Nate Reuss opus
Totally missed the Neko Case and Rocky Votolato albums. They would have def been on my list somewhere.
I didn't think I'd see another list with The Elms on it! Also been listening to that As Tall As Lions album lately, so underrated
Honestly a bit surprised that Dog Problems didn't run away with it, but The Black Parade isn't a surprise overall so here we are
