Hope your first morning back at the office isn't as bad as it sounds, Pat. The company I work for has a return to office date next Monday but my direct boss is still letting us be loosely hybrid, so I don't think I will be going in until maybe mid-April. That being said - pumped to get '06 started! My current '06 playlist has about 1200 songs.... I expect that to grow to at least 2000 when I start seeing some of y'alls lists and remember all the good shit I forgot about.
If we’re gonna have these little pissing contests every week now then I’ll add that I am genuinely distrustful of people who vociferously reject all the music they used to like as bad or nostalgia fodder. It just smacks of insecurity and posturing. Did you spend whole swaths of your lives not genuinely liking anything?
It's simple if I liked it then it was always good and if I didn't y'all got rose colored glasses on for the old days Dude Ranch & TAYF 4ever Blink s/t 4never
You are the one guy I absolutely believe this of. I believe you were a likeable curmudgeon in preschool. Haha
I actually think my 06 list is going to be my least favourite. There's barely any album from that year that I love without reserve. I'll probably check out a couple off yours when you post it.
lol well done. point still stands though. i don't think I've noticed anyone "mad" in here except a few who seem to be inventing guys. i wasn't made when jimmy eat world won, who gives a shit lol. it's just good fun, it doesn't have to be anything more.
I think he was responding to a post earlier that mentioned people only maybe liking/voting for certain albums because of nostalgia or whatnot, not that necessarily anyone in particular. Either way, at least we can all agree that Jack's Mannequin put out the best album of 2005
i mean, we are voting for years in the past. i am absolutely voting for nostalgia purposes voting an oasis album second from 2005. my taste during that time very rarely if ever lined up with this site, so yes, some of the albums that win in this era are surprising to me since I never got the appeal of the albums but, again, who cares. admitting that doesn't make your vote count less or something lol
Makes me very happy CTTM won. Still listen to it all the time - Justin's lyrics speak to me more than any other writer I've ever heard, and that album is no exception. As far as nostalgia - doesn't all music you love at one point inherently become nostalgic? I don't think something is better or worse because people have strong feelings of nostalgia around it.
