I just opened my Pandora app for the first time in probably 10 years because I couldn't handle having no music playing through my headphones. Send help.
You missed an opportunity here lol 'Cause I feel so mad I feel so angry Feel so calloused So lost, confused again
And just like that, it's back. I'm thanking Tom DeLonge for this. He contacted his UFO peeps and fixed the problem. That was a challenging ..... 45 minutes. lol
I talked about it recently in the GC thread, but I hated Chronicles so much that it completely turned me off listening to any albums afterwards, and I LOVED self titled and Young and the Hopeless. Last year I decided I would do more of a discography run and give the albums after Chronicles a chance, but again... I totally hit a wall at Chronicles because it's so bad. Anyway, I'm going to finally give a shot to the albums after that now... Revival is in my queue
If you like the first two but not Chronicles you’d probably like parts of Youth Authority and Cardiology, but that’s about it
Yeah I've heard good things about Youth Authority, which is what kinda spurred me to give everything another shot... anyway, it's only 4 albums I haven't heard so it shouldn't be too difficult for me to get through!
“What You Want” and “Peaches and Cream” are the two that have really stayed with me on a deep level over the years, but I also love “Bound to Ramble” and “Company Sin”
Gonna give this a full spin tomorrow. Heard "what you want" and "bound to ramble" today and just loved them. My find of the week for sure so far.
Reuben - Racecar Is Racecar Backwards Mono - Walking Cloud and Deep Red Sky, Flag Fluttered and the Sun Shined Tortoise - It's All Around You Reuben's debut is an album I adore and listen to on a regular basis. There's influence from a range of different 90s bands here - from Nirvana to Weezer to Glassjaw to Far - but it's not overly similar to any of them, broadly because of Jamie Lenman's force of personality as a songwriter, guitarist and vocalist. Reuben never became the giant of British rock music that they probably deserved to be but they, alongside Biffy Clyro, were one of the best rock bands to emerge in Britain around that time, able to write big pop hooks but with heavy and angular elements. The drum performance is particularly great and the way they utilised the 'limitation' of being a three piece helped give this album and the two after their own sound. No One Wins The War is still one of my favourite openers to any debut album. Maybe the most varied Mono album, not as reliant on the quiet-loud crescendos. Mono used to be one of my favourite bands and while I sort of lost contact with them on record over the years, I still think their best work is fantastic. Halcyon is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard in my life - Fightstar wrote what was essentially their own homage track to it a year later. It's All Around You is a warmer, more flowing album than their previous one, with a jazzier feel but also incredibly mellow, aside from Dot/Eyes. A lot of the albums I like could be described as 'night albums' but this one is for really any time of the day, maybe even more for the morning. I love it when an album cover is a perfect representation of the music and this is certainly one of these - serene, otherworldly, full of colour, light and shade, organic, mystical. Honourable Mentions: Air - Talkie Walkie Morrissey - You Are The Quarry Meshuggah - I (21 minute song) My Chemical Romance - Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge Jimmy Eat World - Futures Mastodon - Leviathan
