That serendipitous moment when you’re listening to one beer on a walk while buying one beer to drink in the park
I think praising work Kanye made 10-15 years before he started doing harmful stuff is different than praising work that essentially gave Jesse Lacey the platform with which to do what he did (let alone their actual offenses and the mental health component)
One of the big "forgotten songs" and bands from this era for me - We've talked about songs in recent years that became faves for some of us due to inclusion on Madden soundtracks. I swore this was on Madden 04, but google tells me it was on MVP Baseball 04. I really have to revisit the album to see if it holds up but I really really loved it at the time.
1. Incubus - A Crow Left of the Murder 2. Green Day - American Idiot 3. Jimmy Eat World - Futures A crow left of the murder is so vastly underrated that it hurts.
Cheers to that - it's a shame that (in my opinion) Incubus fell off quite significantly after that. I find some of their stuff post Crow enjoyable, but don't come back to any of it nearly as often. Crow found them hitting just the right balance between the 'alt-metal' of their early stuff, and some great experimentation without sacrificing any of the hooks/melodies that made them so accessible. "Sick Sad Little World" in particular is one of my favorite songs of the decade.
