also even under the focus of just this site, blink beating trasatlanticism is surprising. you predicted it would win haha!
Ha, I did, but that's more because I forgot the Blink-182 album came out this year. I definitely don't think it should have won, but I'm not surprised it did, given that the narrative (here at least, and in the broader emo/pop-punk community) is that it's their "serious masterpiece."
I really never care who wins. It's just cool seeing people's picks and checking out records I haven't heard before.
When the self-titled Blink 182 is voted the best album of all time and the whole world spontaneously combusts.
1) Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism 2) Blink 182 - Untitled 3) The Postal Service - Give Up 4) Linkin Park - Meteora 5) Dashboard Confessional - AMAMABAS 6) Coheed and Cambria - In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3 7) Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue 8) Zwan - Mary Star of the Sea 9) John Mayer - Heavier Things 10) The Early November - The Room's Too Cold
“tell us about when the world spontaneously combusted, grandpa!” “well…this is the first thing I remember…”
“Sorry, hypothetical grandkids. You never got to exist because a Blink-182 album won an online poll and the world exploded.”
I don't think the wait for a record has ever felt longer for me than waiting on Meteora to come out. True high school torture. That Spring with Evanescence - Fallen and Meteora was rad.
Looking around at SOAD stuff for 2005 and was reminded this album exists: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serart Experimental instrumentation type music alot of it so didn't love all of it, but there were some cool songs on there. I remember liking the track "Narina" a lot.
