The story is weak, but I liked the characters, especially Newt. Just a refreshing lead. Tying it into some huge over-arching storyline was dumb. The second movie is complete trash in every way. JK like shit all over everything good from the first movie, and Depp was there for some fucking reason.
Harry Potter books are great but movies are eh. Last time I tried to re-read them I stopped at order of the Phoenix tho. I enjoy the original star wars but just casually. Love Lord of the rings movies but find books boring. Now my true bb the His Dark Materials series was my thing as a tween/teen. Haven't re-read them to see how they hold up tho. Also, never heard back from ghosted guy. I think it's more frustrating for being confusing than anything. It's not like we had an awkward or stale convo that led to ghosting. He had asked me out and we were texting daily consistently throughout the day and he was always making comments about getting together and this and that and then... Nothing. He is a pretty straightforward guy who seems direct in that way so its caught me off guard. Just sucks cause if someone is blunt and honest at least there's no room for wondering. Like if someone said "hey I got back with my ex" or something I'd be like oh cool, wish you well. Ghosting let's ur imagination and overthinking do a lot of the footwork which is never a good thing lol. Small part of me is still trying to give benefit of the doubt but I keep trying to redirect my brain to stay realistic. Also like.... I've never been dumped or ghosted so this is a new thing lol I'm just going to tell myself he is in a coma or lost his phone and my number didn't transfer over lmao
His Dark Materials holds up I feel. Probably my fav series growing up--HP I didn't discover until I was in high school and was initially dismissive as a kids series, but got over it and loved them.
I just can't do fantasy, I'm so bad at being immersed in worlds and I'm not creative like that also it's weird how people just talk about their Harry Potter houses, like imagine if everyone constantly talked about what table they'd sit at in Mean Girls, and people who are really into Harry Potter tend to make me think like maybe boomers are right about millennials
Also I’m the same way ian about fantasy. Like there’s some that I like but mostly speaking I’m not into it
I've been re-reading the Harry Potter books to my daughter (this is my second read, her first) and she's really into it. We're on Goblet of Fire now
I am definitely more of a fantasy/horror person than like... a drama person Or whatever y'all are into
Can I just say that the idea of you reading Harry Potter to your daughter is fucking adorable and that she’s super lucky to have a father who does that
I say that I’m not a fantasy fan but then I can build an entire fictional world around text-based sports games with ease and get super immersed in it, so
Ok wait I listened to Kelly Clarkson and Christina Aguilera and it's all good. Idk why I didn't think to do that earlier. Rookie mistake. I'm off my "guys suck" game.
Lmao I say that while knowing I'd be happy if he text me outta the blue. But i wouldn't let him know that!!
