The guster and dispatch love in hs was bizarre. Like an enormous 3rd group of music listeners outside of the radio and scene kids for lack of better terminology
I have this one friend who was obsessed (still is) with both Guster and Dispatch in middle/high school (1998-2002)...along with DMB. She's literally the only reason I even know who Guster and Dispatch are. My brother who is 26 is probably the biggest Dispatch fan I know, and he's 11 years younger than me. Insane!
Hell yeah, that song is the bomb. It only started to seem bizarre to me once I discovered this group existed at seemingly every high school. Haha
I think there's a lot of love for this album especially: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bang_Bang_(Dispatch_album)
both. A few of my favoites if at all interested: PLUS, I don't know if many people realize, but Matt Embree of Rx Bandits has been in the band since 2016, and he's fantastic
Has anyone mentioned Moby's "Play" yet? Revisited that this afternoon and, while it wasn't hugely impactful for me at age 15 in 1999, it's a really cool record. It often got categorized as "electronica" or "techno" because people weren't sure what to make of the genre-hopping but it's actually a very organic album built off of old samples with minimal electronic beats.
I had Play on CD as a kid and while I listened to it every so often, it never really was a favorite. Years later after not listening to it for a long time, I came back to it and was waaay more into it and impressed, very cool record
