I can’t think of any other band like LCD Soundsystem, who I think have, like, five good songs and no front-to-back good albums, but where those five songs are fucking unbelievable and one of them is an all-time top 10 track for me. Bizarre.
I’m the same. A few really good tracks spread across a decade. What’s the top ten track? I’ll jam Oh Baby onthe regular.
That must have been a major label connection but, yeah, that album sounds great. I loved Todd's work when he did Bad Religion's "New America" even though it's loathed by a lot of fans and some of the band.
Cliche, but "All My Friends," which is a song that means a lot to me for a variety of different reasons. Guess I need to go back to "Oh Baby," though! I think the first one I heard was "Daft Punk Is Playing at My House," which...I do not like.
What about that one don't you like? (i dunno how to phrase that non-confrontationally, i don't feel strongly about it one way or the other, just curious)
Already mentioned it but this song is one of the best rock/orchestral collaborations ever. Absolutely masterful.
I'm gonna have to go through this whole thread and make a playlist. because 15-16 year old me clearly missed a lot.
New York I Love You and Dance Yrself Clean are the two LCD songs that stick with me and I think are fantastic
James Murphy is someone who can pretty easily tip over into "annoying" for me, and I think he does on that song! Really as simple as that.
I listened to LCD's discography during quarantine after never hearing any of their songs aside from "All My Friends". Some pretty high highs, but a lot did no thing for me. I can't remember what I liked/what I didn't
i love New America, and i love the production. The guitars are all a line 6 pod, it’s awesome. Todd’s production work is puzzling. Some of it is amazing (Meat Loaf, Skylarking) and some sounds awful (Psychedelic Furs, Cheap Trick). It’s really his drum sounds that drive me crazy. That papery snare that comes thru whether its Cheap Trick, BR or Splender
I know we're veering way off topic but I'm looking forward to the 2000 thread when I can argue that Bad Religion's "The New America" is better than the NFG s/t.
