A fucking dynamite year. I've got six albums that I really want to cram into the top 3, so there are going to be some tough cuts.
Gonna be a basic Chorus bitch with my top 3 lol. 1. Jimmy Eat World - Clarity I didn't get into this album until I went through a nasty breakup about a year ago. If loving this album is all I got out of it, it was still worth it. 2. Blink-182 - Enema of the State My favorite album as a kid and pretty undeniably one of the most important pop punk albums of all time. 3. Fountains of Wayne - Utopia Parkway This is another album I didn't get into until pretty recently. I've always liked a few of the rockers off it, but it wasn't until I started working from home that power pop gems like Troubled Times started making more sense to me. Honorable mentions: Rage Against the Machine - The Battle of Los Angeles My fav Rage album as a kid. It's a little same-y now, but still rocks hard. Bowling For Soup - Drunk Enough to Dance Another great pop punk album. Honestly sorta underrated at this point. Surf Colorado is a gem and the front half is stacked. Marvelous 3 - Hey! Album Phenomenal album that I had the fortune to discover after I already got into Butch Walker solo material. "Weird Al" Yankovic - Running With Scissors One of his albums that has probably aged the worst, but it was my favorite as a kid and still has some all-timers. Your Horoscope For Today is as good of a ska tune as has been written. Foo Fighters - There Is Nothing Left to Lose Most days this is my favorite Foo Fighters album, but it loses me a bit in the back half (like most of their albums). Stacked Actors through Aurora is an incredible run though.
1. Dr. Dre -2001 2. Jimmy Eat World - Clarity 3. blink-182 - Enema of the State ALSO Eminem - The Slim Shady LP Saves the Day - Through Being Cool Mos Def - Black On Both Sides MF DOOM - Operation: Doomsday Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication Incubus - Make Yourself Built to Spill - Keep it Like A Secret Nine Inch Nails - The Fragile American Football - American Football The Get Up Kids - Something To Write Home About The Ataris - Blue Skies, Broken Hearts... Next 12 Exits DMX - ...And Then There Was X AFI - Black Sails in the Sunset Slipknot - Slipknot Lit - A Place in the Sun
It's probably going to be Clarity which is at 4 on your list so could be worse haha. Honestly I would have been surprised if Clarity didn't win with how popular it is on this site.
I was too much of a lurker on Absolutepunk to actually rank my end of year albums and post them, so I'm excited for '08ish-'15
it would be very surprising if it were any site other than this haha but i like the album so it’s fine. just a solid tier below the wilco and NIN albums for me, which are all-timers. also seems a bit odd blink and JEW albums would be so big but no other mention of built to spill’s best yet
1. American Football - American Football 2. The Roots - Things Fall Apart 3. Saves the Day - Through Being Cool Honorable: Built to Spill - Keep it Like a Secret Dr. Dre - 2001 Third Eye Blind - Blue MF Doom - Operation Doomsday Nine Inch Nails - The Fragile The Get Up Kids - Something to Write Home About blink 182 - Enema Jimmy Eat World - Clarity TLC - Fanmail Lit - A Place in the Sun Eminem - Slim Shady LP Backstreet Boys - Millennium Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication Sigur Ros - Ágætis byrjun Limp Bizkit - Significant Other Slipknot - Slipknot At the Drive In - Vaya Christina Aguilera - Christina Aguilera Method Man & Redman - Blackout! Mos Def - Black on Both Sides Foo Fighters - There is Nothing Left to Lose Q-Tip - Amplified Jay-Z - Vol. 3
American Football far and away takes this for me. One of the more interesting years in terms of what got played on the radio. You have Britney, Christina, Backstreet Boys, Eminem, Dre, LFO, Korn, Santana, Limp Bizkit. Super eclectic popular music.
1. MF DOOM - Operations Doomsday 2. The Roots - Things Fall Apart 3. Weakling - Dead as Dreams (self released in 1999 on cassette and cdr later to be issued on vinyl in 2000 but nobody else will mention this album so does it really matter plus I’ll probably forget next week.) just wanted to give a shout out to that weakling album. Other things I enjoy Windir - Arntor RATM - Battle for LA Slipknot - S/T BG - Chopper City in the Ghetto Sigur Ros - artybowbfiwhrvdkao Etc
1. American Football - American Football 2. Sigur Ros - Agaetis Byrjun 3. Built to Spill - Keep It Like a Secret All three are 10/10s
Yes. American at that. This band formed in 98 recorded some demos, this album and the disbanded in 99. Never played a show. Also not nazis so that’s a plus.
