Pleasant and mellow is exactly what it is. It’s not amazing, but there are some keepers. I haven’t heard it in a while, looking forward to a listen in 1998
1979 is pretty much my favorite song of all time. (Pretty much, because Farewell Transmission exists.) It's perfect.
My entire music experience in the '90s was based around the radio and CDs my older brother owned that I'd convince him to make me cassette copies of.
Mellon Collie was my first favorite album and is still my favorite album I adore every song and while I don’t condone senseless acts of ranking… Here Is No Why Muzzle 1979 Jellybelly Stumbleine Fuck You Bullet With Butterfly Wings Zero Tonight Tonight Take Me Down In The Arms Of Sleep To Forgive Galapogos Thru The Eyes Of Ruby Tales Of A Scorched Earth Porcelain Cupid De Locke Bodies Love Thirty-Three By Starlight Where Boys Fear To Tread We Only Come Out At Night Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness Lily XYU Beautiful Farewell And Goodnight
completely miserable song especially given the incredible b-sides for that record but i know this is the oasis way
1995: 1. fugazi: red medicine 2. goldie: timeless 3. alice in chains s/t runners up: garbage s/t, scott walker tilt, tricky maxinquaye, orb orbus terrarum, guy called gerald black secret technology, morbid angel domination, bone thugs e.1999, 2pac me against the world, foo fighters s/t, emmylou harris wrecking ball, pharcyde labcabincalifornia, sonic youth washing machine, death symbolic, at the gates slaughter of the soul, dj quik safe + sound, slowdive pygmalion, techno animal re-entry, björk post, raekwon cuban linx, three-6 mafia mystic stylez, green day insomniac, pj harvey to bring you my love, lifetime hello bastards, pulp different class, pavement crooked rain, cap'n jazz burritos, ulver bergtatt
from just listing my runners up i'd say björk's post alone is about a billion times better than morning glory ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I’ve got so much to check out from this year! My current faves are: 1. silverchair - Frogstomp 2. Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie 3. Deftones - Adrenaline
you have all strayed so far from the light this won’t be our largest margin but it’ll be the most points for a winner/is our #1 seed so far. but i think that’s due more to increased participation
1. Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness 2. Oasis - (What's the Story) Morning Glory? 3. Guided By Voices - Alien Lanes im driving by Dayton today, i will be saluting saltily
I have to be in the mood but I want to listen to Alien Lanes again. I've loved GBV since ~2000... and even saw them I believe 3 times on their original run. But for some reason I am so put off by their post-reunion output, and that has resulted in me not really ever being in the mood to listen to GBV. Bob just now kinda comes off like a determined old dude that refuses to hang it up, but just rehashes the same ideas he was doing better 25 years ago. I'd love to be convinced otherwise if anyone can suggest some worthy songs from their recent releases.
craig you are my favorite person of the day for reminding me that that Stephen Lynch song exists. Lmfao thank you
Did the single version of "One of Us" cut the absolutely fucking incredible guitar solo or has it just been so long since I heard it that I forgot?
