It’s a perfectly cromulent movie

 

I've never seen it but this controversy makes me want to.

 

Blue Velvet wins it with 20 votes. Aliens was in second place with 7 votes. Blue Velvet will move on to the bracket.

 

Same haha. I've always heard that one was lesser Scorsese

 

I haven’t seen The Colour of Money in a long time, but I remember Newman and Cruise being great in it, Newman in particular. Excellent last scene too.

It doesn’t really feel like a Scorsese film for me though, reminds me a bit of his earlier work when he was a director for hire, as opposed to making “his” films.

I don’t think there’s any controversy about it - it’s not a bad film at all, just not usually put up in the upper echelon of his work, but it’s perfectly solid.

 

there’s no controversy, @Morrissey just likes to tease me bc it’s my favorite Scorsese
