1. Tears For Fears - Songs from the Big Chair 2. Rites of Spring - Rites of Spring 3. The Replacements - Tim
Checked out Nick Cave's The Firstborn is Dead, which is great. I do need to do a proper full dive through of Nick Cave, what I've heard has been fantastic and diverse. This sounds like Tom Waits fronting Joy Division, huge amounts of British post punk sound here, meets some creepy bluesy Americana stuff. Really engaging and fun, fantastic evocative and dark lyrics, and aggressive post punky instrumentation.
surprisingly convincing win from the replacements' tim with 21 points. the cure's head on the door had 16, kate bush's hounds of love had 14, and tom waits' rain dogs had 13. I love tim, but given how hounds of love performed in the definitive albums list thread, I'm a bit surprised here.
Tears For Fears - Songs From The Big Chair 'Til Tuesdsay - Voices Carry those are my two favorite '85 albums
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Indestructible_Beat_of_Soweto im listening to this for the first time. incredibly sick world music comp released in 85.
Mandy Moore's cover of that song has been a favorite of mine for a loooooong time. Honestly I'd love her to cover that whole excellent record.
