LOVED it. I was honestly expecting something...colder? I've always found their original "Blue Monday" pretty dispassionate. But that album was warm and human and just excellent.
i love blue monday but i get it. glad you enjoyed the album, it’s so good, and such an unexpected turn after joy division and the debut
1. Paul Simon - Hearts & Bones 2. Cheap Trick - Next Position Please 3. The Police - Synchronicity Not a lot of all time faves in 1983, although Hearts & Bones and Next Position Please are two very overlooked classics. A ton of albums I do love or love some songs from… Cyndi Lauper - She’s So Unusual Tears For Fears - The Hurting Marshall Crenshaw - Field Day REM - Murmur Big Country - The Crossing (is this overlooked??? Its so good) Echo & The Bunnymen - Porcupine Wipers - On The Edge Minutemen - What Makes A Man Start Fires (bob dylan wrote propaganda songs yasssss) Ramones - Subterranean Jungle Violent Femmes David Bowie - Let’s Dance Huey Lewis - Sports (really love it) Stevie Nicks - The Wild Heart Brian Eno - Apollo Kinks - State Of Confusion John Mellencamp - Uh Huh I don’t love the whole album but Bark At The Moon is like the most fun riff ever to play
1. David Bowie: Let’s Dance 2. Violent Femmes: Violent Femmes 3. Stevie Nicks: This Wild Heart Shout out to An Innocent Man and Pipes of Peace too Hoping I’ll have more time to listen to new stuff again starting this week. Been slacking here
george strait - right or wrong is very good. i get why he's a lot of people's fave in country. dude had hit after hit. 5 albums that could theoretically still get first in the votes.
1. Tears for Fears - The Hurting 2. David Bowie - let's dance 3. R.E.M. - Murmur will do the rest tomorrow
so, there's a tie for first. bowie's let's dance and REM's murmur both have 14 points. i believe the last time we had a tiebreaker like this we gave deference to more appearances vs. more first place votes, so murmur will win (on 4 lists) over let's dance (3). bowie did have 2 first place finishes to REM's 0 though. REM's Murmur wins this year and will move onto the eventual bracket
Got in two final listens: Nile Rodgers - Adventures in the Land of the Good Groove The Tubes - Outside Inside

They were ok. I like them more or less.
I may hate you for seeing the Mama tour and being eh about it. I've watched the concert film of it SO many times.
Holy shit, I am listening to L’amour by Lewis right now and it’s brilliant. Scratches that Talk Talk/Blue Nile ambient pop itch perfectly. Completely missed all the hubbub about it back in 2014 when it was rediscovered
