Listened to: John Martyn - One World Junior Murvin - Police and Thieves Honestly not huge on either, though I do feel like I learned something listening
literally one of the most consistent bands around from the self titled debut through mirrors. the next one is a dud but then fire of unknown origin follows.
Some BOC gems This song is rippin borderline soft rock smoothage: Buck Dharma’s solo record isnt great, but some cool tunes:
“Veteran of the Psychic Wars” and “Burnin’ for You” would be enough to carry a whole album even if that’s all that was on it. Oh man, I know “In Thee”. Forgot all about that song
Holy shit, Art Garfunkel's Watermark is spectacular. Every song but one is by Jimmy Webb, who's just objectively one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Art's fucking angel tenor is such a perfect match for the gorgeously written-and-orchestrated balladry. There are so many good songs, but "All My Love's Laughter" is just an absolutely knockout. Also, holy shit, this album may have the single most insane credits list of any album I've ever heard.
I’ve read Jimmy Webb’s book. He definitely sees himself as objectively one of the greatest songwriters of all time
I was pretty unsatisfied with the breadth and depth of my listening when I looked over that ‘77 list I’ve made. So I’ve listened to 15 albums so far this week. Hopefully a few more before it’s done
it feels safe to call it. it isn't close at all. Rumours wins with 39. the stranger had 20 and aja had 13.

listened to the rufus and chaka khan album for the first time as part of my counting down of the RS 500 list. really liked it! the vocals are great and the instrumentation is cool. it was a little repetitive in parts for my taste but very enjoyable first listen. The New RS 500: #499 Rufus featuring Chaka Khan — Ask Rufus
apparently Springsteen loved this album and called it a huge influence on Nebraska ... beyond puzzling
Yeah that’s where he got the idea for Highway Patrolman. The Suicide guys were always at CBGBs. Alan Vega was like 20 years older than he said he was or some shit lol
