Watching it now "Hey honey so this movie we are going to see on date night is about a statutory rapist who lies his way into an insane asylum. He befriends an American Indian and a shy kid who he helps get laid. In the end the shy kid kills himself, the statutory rapist gets lobotomized, the evil nurse is still in charge of everything, and the American Indian becomes a fugitive. That was a fun night at the movies for people in 1975." - Patton Oswalt
Now they're talking about Hearts and Minds, a documentary about Vietnam that won the doc Oscar in '75 despite having it's US release canceled. Sound familiar?
