I got in trouble for it the first year I taught it by one of the shitty vice principals, fought it with the union and wrote up a whole document to prove it was worth showing, and no one has bothered me since.
One of my students said he wishes the film cut to black as she jumped out of the window at the end of the movie (removing the climactic chase/truck splatter/leatherface dance scene). I was baffled and asked why, and he said so that it could be open ended for a sequel.
