Today listened to Carpenters - Close To You (some obvious classics and nice covers, but not my favorite from them) and Cat Stevens - Tea For The Tillerman (in full for the first time, way more stacked than I expected). Also Ringo's Sentimental Journey (not my first listen), which is.... well, its something. I still can't believe this album was essentially the first solo album from The Beatles, just so incredibly Ringo of him to release it.
Bob Dylan's Self Portrait is certainly a bizarre piece of music, though somehow I listened to the whole thing haha. I appreciate the existence of it after reading a lot of WHY he released it, a pretty funny concept that didn't really go as he had hoped. The cover of The Boxer is definitely a low point for me, what a mess
Watertown (album) - Wikipedia This was a cool record, a little rockier than usual, a nice detour from his usual fare. The title track is the highlight for me
two very cool 1970 songs that I hadn't heard before, but have hard the samples a million times. They speak for themselves
Rare Earth had fuckin’ soul. Not for nothing Motown signed them. Their version of “What’d I Say” by Ray Charles is massive
also, obviously my votes don't count right now, but here's what I got. This ended up being a pretty damn stacked year: 1. George Harrison - All Things Must Pass 2. The Beatles - Let It Be 3. Derek and the Dominoes - Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs 4. John Lennon - John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band 5. Van Morrison - Moondance 6. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin III 7. Black Sabbath - Paranoid 8. McCartney - McCartney I first listens that I dug and could make the list eventually The Allman Brothers Band - Idlewild South The Beach Boys - Sunflower The Byrds - (Untitled) Carpenters - Close To You Cat Stevens - Tea For The Tillerman Creedence Clearwater Revival - Cosmo's Factory Creedence Clearwater Revival - Pendulum Curtis Mayfield - Curtis Elton John - Elton John Elton John - Tumbleweed Connection James Taylor - Sweet Baby James Eric Burdon & War - Eric Burdon Declares "War" Eric Burdon & War - The Black-Man's Burdon The Kinks - Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One Marvin Gaye - That's The Way Love Is Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsys Simon & Garfunkle - Bridge Over Troubled Water Stevie Wonder - Signed, Sealed & Delivered The Velvet Underground - Loaded
Think someone on Twitter referenced Vashti Bunyan's Just Another Diamond Day as a perfect fall album. Checking it out now
Journey in Satchidananda is excellent. I can't remember if I've ever listened to it before. EDIT: I guess this should go in 71? Whoops, search bar put me here.
