I just realized Clay's therapist is Gary Sinise. And I'm just like why the fuck did he sign up for this shit? He's entirely too good for this steaming pile of garbage.
Every viewer after season 2: "WTF!?. Ghost Hannah was so pointless and stupid. This show is garbage now." Show writers heading into season 4: "Hmm... I think we can win them back with Ghost Bryce and Ghost Monty." God, I can't wait to see the rotten tomatoes meter for Season 4.
reading the plot summaries for the back half of the season make me very, very glad I did not sit through this lol
I’m going to show the first 5 minutes of episode 8 completely out of context to my friend that only saw the first season
Honestly happy that this show is normalizing going to prom without a date, or going with friends. I did that as an 18 year old and was made to feel kind of bad about it. Maybe times have changed and it’s already normalized, either way, good!
It’s insane that this show was once taken so seriously that they had to cut a scene out after it had already aired for public safety. What a wild turn.
Finished this shitshow last night. I feel like the pre-production for season 4 was basically a group of writers who didn't give a shit just spewing out off the wall ideas that all got the green light. "Hey, how about if we make Alex like dudes?" "Hey, how about if we make the star QB like dudes?" "Hey, how about if we make the school administrator like dudes?" "Hey, how about an unnecessary amount of Ghost Monty?" "Hey, how about we give Monty a sister?" "Hey, how about we make Tyler an informant for the police?" "Hey, how about an episode where they go camping with Clay's mom?" "Hey, how about an episode where the entire school riots?" "Hey, how about if Zach and Clay get in a horrific accident and nobody dies?" "Hey, how about we do an episode with Bryce as a futuristic cyborg?" "Hey, how about if Justin has AIDS?" Also. There was seriously no point in having Ani in this. She even went away for like three or four episodes because the writers had nothing for her to do.
Among many things this season, the car accident was definitely one of the weirder ideas they had. The flip of the car was insane and Zach wears an arm sling for all of ten minutes following it.
The crisis line at the end of each episode just seems ridiculous at this point too. Seemed reasonable in season one and possibly the second season. But my God, this has become such a who dunnit mystery saga, none of this shit seems remotely relatable.
I think the most unrealistic thing about this season is Justin somehow never getting tested for HIV. That's just so ridiculous to me. There's no way a character like Jess would let him go untested knowing his history. The writers just wanted to end on something dramatic and didn't think it through. Season was an absolute mess.
How did this become a bad CW show? The way they handled a lot of the issues was so messed up. Especially for a show that seemed to highlight current issues facing teenagers and young adults in today's society. I understand Tylers story, what happened to him, and why he almost did what he did. What happened to him was fucking awful. But playing it out to have friends protect him and invite him back into the place he almost shot up, literally like two days after attempting it, doesn't make sense or send the best message to anybody. There are other ways to protect and help him out. There was so much messed up about that. If I'm wrong about this, please let me know. I'm open to hear another point of view. Framing a murder and getting away with it? Come on. Even though those guys did the worst shit imagineable and I wanted them to pay for their BS in show, how it all played out just wouldn't happen. After years of addiction and relapses, Justin dies of AIDS after NEVER getting tested? Planning a school shooting drill where guns are being fired in the hallways and not telling the students it was a drill until after the fact?! Students taking on the police during a school riot then going to the prom within the next episode or two?! Clay getting away with all the vandalism and threatening he has a gun in a hospital waiting room? What? A random car accident that probably should've killed at least one of them, but nah...they were completely okay aside from a few broken bones and damaged friendship. Ugh...Theres just so much more. They should've just ended after season 1 based on the book adaptation. Just like what Hulu did with Finding Alaska (Excellent adaptation of the book btw). If you liked the 1st season of 13RW then I highly recommend Finding Alaska.
