There was a thread on AP where I discovered a ton of great bands(unwound, Bear vs Shark, Engine Down etc). Thought I would continue it.
Impossible for me not to plug Shiner's two incredible 00s LPs, both up there in my all-time favorites, so might as well get it out of the way: Starless (2000) The Egg (2001)
The few Shiner songs I've heard are tight so I'll check them for sure. Two lesser known bands that I really liked in high school: Scatter the Ashes (mid 2000's Epitaph Records. Name makes them sound like a shitty Hot Topic band, but their sound is somewhere between Thursday, space-rock era Cave In, and Joy Division) Open Hand (Band that had like three dudes from Saosin, they all left, and the remaining member(s) started making stuff that sounds like Queens of the Stone Age meets Hum)
You and Me is the shit. Really thought it would take off more when it came out. Definitely a 00s classic I would've eventually posted if you hadn't first. They've been teasing new shit on FB for years and it sounds promising.
Seems like my 00s posthardcore listening is a pretty pressing gap. Bear vs Shark seems like a good place to start though. I'll be sure to keep up with this thread.
I used to listen to this A Day in Black and White record all the time. Used to be skramz but this record sounds like Fugazi Kurt Ballou produced it too!
I love this one and the next one too I was listening today and wished Jim was still into making music could never get into the third one, tho
So my band isn't from the early 2000s, but we are heavily influenced by Matchbook Romance, Thrice, and stuff like that so I think it fits here.
I've been listening to lots of the Felix Culpa lately and it's only now hitting me how much the singer sounds like Jonah Mantranga. Anyway, I think TFC fits here well enough, although their crowning release was in 2011:
