Turntable Kitchen have launched a Kickstarter for a new vinyl subscription service called Sounds Delicious. The idea is that you’ll get exclusive full-length cover albums by a variety of different artists:

We’ve asked some of indie music’s most exciting and well-respected artists to choose any full length album they love and cover it from front to back. We’ll produce their recordings on limited edition vinyl packaged in beautifully designed jackets. The records will be released exclusively through the Sounds Delicious subscription service and delivered to you every month.

Interesting concept. The first vinyl subscription service idea that has a unique spin to it (just because vinyl records are popular and subscription delivery services are popular doesn't mean that combining them will be effective or useful).

Am I missing something, though, or do they not delve into the licensing of the songs being covered?

I would really love to see something like this that had more fan involvement. Where those donating get to vote on what bands get pursued, what songs get covered, etc. Something truly interactive. Might be a challenge to implement, but if you're fully transparent about the process in place could be something really neat for subscribers/investors.
