Umm… YES! He’s going to be a fantastic Batman.

 

As Batman? Cool.
As Bruce Wayne? We’ll see…

 

I agree with that. They really steered away from showing him as Bruce Wayne. I’m going to stay optimistic about it

 

Not as pumped as I was after the first teaser. It all feels too… young? Or maybe I’m old now?

 

Hah I was thinking the same thing! Pattinson is a great actor and will do fantastic but I was thinking he looked too young for Bruce Wayne.

 

He’s playing a 30 year old Batman y’all.

 

Well in that case, makes sense!

 

I was insanely skeptical when they announced his casting but these two trailers have completely turned me. that scene in the hall lit but the muzzle flashes gave me goosebumps. and the closing shot of seeing batman walk towards penguin upside down with the fire behind was fantastic.

 

This is the first Batman of my life that looks SCARY.

They allude to it in 89 Batman’s opening, but you never see the real fear from criminals the way he is portrayed in the comics. I think we will get that here.

I also think Dano is going to absolutely kill it.

I mean...I'm pretty excited about Paul Dano as Riddler

 

Bingo. This is like Year One/Long Halloween with the aesthetics of Zero Year and the youth of Earth One

 

I dig it. I think some people have had their expectations influenced more by previous casting decisions, rather than the actual legacy of the character - recognizing of course there are some old-man Batman eras/stories in the comics too.

 

but wait I don't like being older than batman :(

 

This looks to be heavily inspired by Batman Year One and The Long Halloween, both excellent young Batman stories. Nice change of pace from grizzled Batfleck and TDKR Bale, both of which were massively influenced by The Dark Knight Returns 1 and 2.

 

The recent Long Halloween animated film was phenomenal.

 

Pattinson is 4 years older than Bale was in Batman Begins, and I don’t think he looks drastically younger than Bale did in that film.

 

There's not way they're gonna top the Christopher Nolan movies but this looks good.

 

The Nolan films are legendary (esp the first two) but I think this one could be on that level if it goes more toward the comic book route
