‘The Batman’ Trailer

This gave me hope

 

This looks fantastic. That brutal beatdown scene was all I needed to know it's heading in the direction I was hoping for.

 

2 more for good measure at the end sold me too... esp with the "crunch"

 

I know people hate using that Nirvana song, but man, the melody and the keys fit the tone so well, especially with the auxiliary percussion.

That last scene after the title card, when you see his eyes waver. That's tremendous.

Paul Dano is the Riddler?! Oh man. I'm excited.

 

I've not heard or read a single human on Earth complain about the song.....

Both pretentious film Twitter hates it, along with some music critics I love like Steven Hyden. But you can't please everyone, and I would bet this trailer pleases a hell of a lot more than most.

 

Stoked we're finally getting an emo Batman, but a lot of those shots look very similar to those from the Nolan trilogy, for example the zip wire up through the middle of the stairwell looks very familiar

 

I'm optimistic because I trust Pattinson and Dano as actors. I'm excited to see their performances. I also like that the franchise is taking a turn towards some of the more epic arcs like The Long Halloween / Year One, etc. I fear there isn't much left to say for Batman on screen at the moment, but we'll see!

 

As does the batmobile...

 

The concept for this is really great. The whole "year two" Batman who is still figuring out where Batman fits without needing us to watch his parents get killed and become batman again.

They're also doing an HBO Max series about the Gotham PD during "year one" of Batman to tie into the movie.

 

Looking at the youtube comments, about half of them reference watching this trailer daily. I'd say it's a hit.
