I think AVA is done period, since Tom seems to be focused on Blink for good, which is a sentence i never thought I'd say lol

I think the reason that a lot of people stop resonating with new music as they get older is that they fail to acknowledge exactly what you just said. New music just isn't going to feel the same way at 40 as it did at 14 or 18 or 21. So yeah, the ranking/comparison mindset can set you up for disappointment, for sure. When it comes to some of these bands that we're getting new music from after years of hiatuses or breakups, I just try to approach those with a totally different mindset -- less, "Is the new Yellowcard as good as Ocean Avenue?" more "Isn't it fucking cool that this even exists?" Thanks for the shout! Also, one of the interesting things with this series is definitely which pivotal artists I chose "later" stuff from. (Most of those, I haven't gotten to yet, but they're coming soon.)

[MEDIA] Cool interview with Luke and Kyle. Luke talks about how Done with Drugs is his least favorite song to play live if he had to pick one, just because live there's not a lot of breathing room as far as singing and I assume audience engagement which I get. Song still rips though.

Yeah since Panic Stations especially, it seems like Justin's slacker rock influences have come full force. You can really hear the Pavement, Dinosaur Jr., early Flaming Lips vibes a lot, and I can feel it during She Is Afraid, but not as much with YKWTFWA. YKWTFWA is my favorite track of theirs since True Romance probably, although Stop Talking is excellent too.

Yeah, it’s quickly becoming my favourite song they’ve released since the Go era, probably the MDL era. It’s catchy, upbeat, the synth is properly back and popping off, and the production is pretty great. Should have been the first single, and got the music video imo.

Yeah I'm curious why I Hate the Internet and True Devotion didn't make the cut. Maybe they were intentionally standalone tracks

Absolutely, I just meant in terms of like what projects she's focusing on, solo seems more apparent. Not speculating any further since it's not my or the fans' business.

i'd be all for a hayley/zac solo record tour. have him/halfnoise (is that still a thing) open. they play a couple p-more hits as the encore. would be good!

My presumption here is that (seemingly) she and Taylor are done, so Paramore must be for a while (a LONG while probably), and Hayley will focus on this solo album and get to promote and tour behind it, something she didn't get to originally with Petals thanks to COVID. Curious if Zac Farro will drum for it, and if he did so on this album as well?

Good stuff. Follows up the last two pretty well (both underrated af). More subdued than expected. Need a proper track listing and quality.

Zachary Dresch liked Aaron Mook's post in the thread Movie Happy Gilmore 2 (July 25, 2025, Netflix).
Sandy Wexler is definitely a major step up from something like The Ridiculous 6. And since then, a lot of the Netflix-Sandler stuff has been totally serviceable and pleasant (albeit forgettable) comedies like The Week Of and Murder Mystery. Spaceman is, at the very least, a really interesting swing and a miss. And of course the stand-up stuff is great. As an actual actor, he's probably neck and neck with Carrey when he wants to be serious. Ferrell isn't really in that conversation imo, but if you're talking about comedy runs, Ferrell probably beats out both of them in terms of quality and consistency (even if he's my least favorite of the bunch).

My only gripe is killing off Julie Bowen. Her presence is in the film, yes, but it’s weird seeing her promote the film on the talk show circuit when she gets killed five minutes in.

Yeah there's enough of that Nil juice that we all know and love but there's a lot of elements moving them into new territory like "This Is Me Warning Ya" going into ballad territory and "Spider Dream" having a different vibe too. Love it.
