I think it’s understandable if someone is a little bit let down if they were preparing to be launched into the next segment of this band’s career only to be met with a song that is basically just MYSTERY again almost beat for beat, even right down to its placement on the record. At the same time it would be silly to expect that the record won’t be full of surprises

It’s fine, really does just feel like “mystery” but slower

I just don’t preorder stuff anymore. If it’s something I expect to be in my top 10 at the end of the year, I’ll get it from my local shop. It’s too expensive without also paying the crazy shipping rates they’re charging.

Every few months another artist named Caspian releases new music on Spotify only for me to get really excited for a minute before I realize it's a different Caspian. The imposter always gets taken down after awhile, but it's still super annoying. This has been happening for a couple years now. On another note, it's now been over 5 years since a proper album from these guys. Weird to think the last time we got a new Caspian record was in a pre-covid world.

I have exactly zero people in my life to bond with over this band, and I happened to bring them up to an acquaintance during a random conversation at a coffee shop the other day. He gave me this locked-in look and said, ‘Their new album,’ and we proceeded to gush about it for the next 30 minutes. It was beautiful. This is my early contender for aoty.

My excitement is definitely more around being stoked that it's happening, and not because of the quality of this one song. It sounds like a fitting opener for them, and a continuation of Glow On, which I'm totally cool with.

They couldn’t have written something this close to it by accident, but I get if people don’t like the decision. I’m so-so on the song myself

Yeah the way they cross certain designs over from past eras is very satisfying. They’ve done this with their vinyl packaging since Nonstop Feeling too, where the sleeve spines all look the same

Taking this opportunity to revisit Time & Space after many years, and man, it’s so good. Glow On is incredible, but this album should not be overlooked.

This is everything I tried today at Disney’s Food & Wine Fest at California Adventure: 1. Spam Musubi Fried Rice: Excellent. Perfect balance of flavors. Spicy of the umami mayo, sweet from the grilled spam, and the savory of the rice and egg 2. Cafe De Olla Tres Leches Cake: Fantastic. Only gripe was that they were pretty heavy on the leches so it was a little too soggy. But god damn it tasted so good and was so refreshing on a hot day 3. LA Mini Street Dog: Loved this one. Tasted like Costco made one of those hot dogs you get after a concert in SoCal. Every ingredient complemented each other excellently. Also loved that they used legit, thick-cut bacon. I’d love a full-size version of this 4. BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger Bao: This is a revised version of the cheeseburger bao they had last year. Last’s year’s was fantastic. But this one was only okay. The burger filling was good, but the sauce they had with the meat didn’t mesh with the sweet bbq sauce. Drizzling the bbq sauce on the outside made a poor, messy eating experience too. The fried onions were also just like, French’s fried onions 5. Impossible Sloppy Joe Slider: Way better than I expected. You could not tell it wasn’t real meat. Seasonings and spices were great. Loved the toasted, buttery bun. Could’ve done without the American cheese though. But otherwise, wonderful [ATTACH] [ATTACH] [ATTACH]

I went to visit my dad in MA yesterday and accidentally punched in the same address but in NH. Luckily realized it before I got all the way there, but still... Annoying haha. That being said, once I finally got there, I passed a liquor store called "Bunghole Liquors" and I laughed so hard that it made up for it

You ever learn something like super basic about cooking and it changes your life forever? I recently learned to sear meat/fish in the pan for a little bit before putting it in the oven. Holy shit lol. I was previously doing pan only (often burnt) or oven only (often dry). The searing is so easy and comes out so much better every time lmao. Anyway here’s some blackened halibut I made tonight using my revolutionary new skills.
