this album has the same narrative sprawl as wildlife with many of the same sonic touchstones as rooms. in other words, it’s peak

Sorry to bump but I’m listening to this for the first time in a while and still love it. It’s probably the O’Brother album I return to the least but I’m a huge fan of how eerie and subdued it is. Slipping is the coolest song. I miss these guys.

doing horrible. experienced an ultimate betrayal that has made me have to reevaluate everything I thought I knew about my relationship with this person. I have been experiencing every manipulation and gaslighting tactic in the book since confronting them. I am reeling. I am sad. I don’t understand why or how. I don’t know how to move forward. And I hate myself for still wanting this person to have a place in my life when all they’ve done is hurt me. I don’t think I’ve ever been hurt this much by another person

There must’ve been a downpour last night, a bunch of my pepper plants lost flowers/buds over night. Pretty annoying since the growing season is almost over and one of the plants had just started to flower.

TIL: The Hollywood Bowl is managed by the LA Parks Department which means that it’s technically a public park. You can hang out anywhere in the venue between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM when shows aren’t happening

I am a sucker for Wendy's chili. I made smashed potatoes like potato skins last night and they were really good. I par-boiled the potatoes, smashed them on a sheet tray, and then roasted them in bacon fat. Then I topped 'em with melted colby jack, bacon, horseradish sour cream, and a ****-ton of chives.

It makes a big difference imo. I usually use some kind of märzen/festbier but anything that’s not crazy hoppy (or a barrel aged stout/sour) would be pretty good!

gotta toss a couple canned or dried chipotles in there for the spice/smoke. I also keep a variety of dried peppers in the freezer. Usually pasillas, arbols, guajillos, chipotles for a bunch of different spice levels. The arbols really kick things up a notch if you're brave. Also a fan of a liiiiittle bit of dark chocolate and cinnamon in there on occasion.

When something is advertised as a BOGO but when you look at the fine print it's really "but one get one 20% off" or some shit like that.

Virtual meetings that mandate cameras being on. The whole notion that having a camera on is more respectful doesn't make sense to me. I've done virtual presentations and IDC if I can see faces or not. I was going to do a voluntary training but legit didn't because it mandated cameras being on. I like to listen while I go on a walk or get ready in the morning because I feel I focus best that way. But I'm not trying to do that all on camera and I also resent the notion that not being on camera means I'm not paying attention or giving respect to the speaker or whatever Also it's weird when it's work related because a lot of our trainings and meetings are discussing horrific or traumatic topics and while many of us are used to that, business staff and more clerical workers aren't and it seems out of touch to force folks to be on camera for really triggering and upsetting topics

Going with a positive post tonight, I didn't start building a life until I was 26, I was a miserable drug addict before that. Tomorrow I will finally move into my own apartment, my own space, i've never had anything close to resembling that. It took much longer than I thought it would, but looking back I wouldn't change anything. Being patient with my life and staying out of my own way has done such wonders for me in the past decade. I've learned so many lessons, about life and mostly about myself. Especially these past 5 years, i've been extremely single and have truly just focused on myself. I stand today feeling better about myself than ever and it just would not have happened had all the things I wanted just came into my life very quickly. Tonight feels surreal, tomorrow will feel surreal, for a long time I wasn't sure any of this would be possible.

Yeah a few of us were talking about that in this thread back in July when that all went down - those records had been posted about pretty consistently through 2024. I totally thought AI music would be easier to detect, but copperplate made a fool outta me. Haven’t listened since and can’t imagine I ever will again

he sounds better on private music for sure, especially in terms of how he’s placed in the mix. I’d also have to guess that Nick probably uses more tuning in his vocal processing, whereas Terry seems to prefer a more raw and in your face sound (warts and all). I think that approach worked better for their original run with him, and I generally prefer how Chino sounds on those records to anything post-S/T, but I think it was less successful for Ohms, on the whole. I also just think since Chino has been in a healthier place and is sober now, his voice has been stronger than it’s been in a long time, so private music has the benefit of that. I will say, however, I personally found Chino’s lyrics much more compelling on Ohms overall than I do on private music.

I found my ex girlfriend’s reddit account. Yes I went looking no I’m not proud of it. I had a feeling about something and I was right. I was being cheated on for the last six months of my relationship at least and lied to over and over again for the last three months it’s been “over.” I’m extremely distraught because she did this once before and I really wanted to believe it wouldn’t happen again.
