Glad to see so much hype for this, well deserved. A record that at the time I thought was just as good as TGG but it slid in my estimation a little. This version stands shoulder to shoulder with their absolute best. Need a Thomas Nassiff take. Also curious to know if Jason likes it more now since he was not a big fan at the time from what I remember of the podcast.

Went to pull this up on my watch for my walk and couldn't read the full title noting that it was the 10th anniversary edition, so I figured I'd just hit play and find out the hard way. I knew I'd chosen right just by the opening static, haha. This thing feels brand new.

i'm glad they chose i don't like who i was then to lead off the remastered campaign. can't even begin to describe how huge and important this new version feels. song should be as big for them as came out swinging is, or screen door.

Said it before but they'd be doing themselves a solid if they asked Hopeless to bury it.

The instrumental break in "Bluest Things" absolutely floored me. Love(d) the original album - the songs were always really strong even if the production was lacking and the sequencing is a little iffy - but this totally reinvigorates the album for me.

Man this is amazing. The production made me not listen to this album as much as I should have. This sounds phenomenal. It’s doing the same thing Gaslight remastering History Books did for me, it’s like a whole new album.

On my 5th listen, still hearing new things - continue to echo the comments elsewhere: everything has space to breathe, the vocals are way clearer, you can properly hear 3 guitarists now, etc etc. Crazy how good it is. Two things throwing me: - Bluest Things: The drums right before the final chorus (2:43) are so much lower in the mix vs. the original! - Palm Reader: There's some weird background vocal (like a "Hey") on 1:46/47

The more I listen, I just can't believe this is the same record? THIS is what it was supposed to sound like?? I have always loved NCTH, but I can't believe the difference between this and the original.

I know a lot of the complaints about the original release were how buried the guitars were, but man even the drums sound so much clearer in this remaster, the floor toms especially pop.

To add a little bit of context that others haven't mentioned, to my knowledge they've actually never acknowledged the SC mix/master issues (I suspect it's mastering) - beyond a post I actually made when the album came out. I posted in the SC forum here, I'm sure I could find it with enough looking, that I didn't like how SC sounded. Nick Steinborn responded saying he was bummed I felt that way, that they all liked how it sounds. I felt pretty awkward (I love SC!). That being said, I still feel that way, pleeeease remaster SC too! This NCTH remix/master sounds truly amazing, I just want SC to get the same treatment.

Patsy Cline literally feels like a different song. It was the ONE Wonder Years song I never liked because that chorus fell sooooooo flat for me. Blew me away this time around, though.

Yeah I think somewhere recently (an interview maybe?) they were so beat down and running out of time at the end of NCTH that it was essentially "fuck it, it's good enough" by the time they were done and settled on what they new was a bad mix. Please correct me if I am wrong however.

You absolutely should be able to hear the hi-hat and accents on the opening drums in Patsy Cline. You are now. I've been hopping around Aus YouTube for a preview and this is definitive 'it always should have fucking sounded like this' tier stuff, folks.

I pretty much always try to listen to an album with lyrics the first time but yeah, I very rarely remember them that well anymore. I do tend to remember what the general idea behind each song is though and some of my favourite lines and the chorus haha. Hot Mulligan in particular is usually hard for me to remember the actual lyrics although I do tend to like them a lot.
