Basically, the Drums on War Paint are a lot simpler than the albums around it. Reach for the Sun, and Golden Record, both have very complex beats and fills throughout. Very inventive... War Paint is great, but much more reserved. Listen to Where I want to be's drums (especially the breakdown part towards the end) and then pop on War Paint. It's just much simpler Beats and Fills. Doesn't mean it's worse or anything. I just think the complex/inventive drumming always boosted the sometimes simpler songs from TDS

war paint would be the best tds album if the drumming wasn't way less interesting than basically any other tds album minus coming home, which we've basically agreed is inferior to all the other ones anyway

I breathe in the open air; all of my words will run out. All of my nightmares are heavy, I scatter them out on the ground. You can see through my broken stare, lost in the color of sound. Even if I wasn’t ready, the silence is coming now. thats the kind of shit that cuts me deep

him defending the rapist/nazi sympathizer in better off is a pertinent use of the thread, I would argue, yes. very different than 'guy posts very bad take and apologizes for it'. anyway, not about to participate in derailing the thread even further than it already was. e: better off also released a new song yesterday, they are surely ramping up for a new release. dude is incredibly close friends with the nazis in many rooms/whatever fuckin hardcore band her husband was in, forget which and has never denounced these ties, along with the whole incident with them essentially breaking up instead of kicking a rapist out of their band.

i do think it's fucked up when people are basically riffing for a couple pages about 'i don't like band' when you have p diddy's involvement in a sex trafficking ring interspersed in said riffing, but if you feel otherwise I guess that's your prerogative

there's a reason why I don't involve myself in the hardcore scene anymore, and opinions like that are a huge reason why. sorry that I don't have any recordings from shows I attended like 15 years ago where that rhetoric was excessively common, especially among local bands in my area. i'm not defending the stupid shit the heart attack man dumbass said by any means, it's just not an Accountability Issue. I'm sure there's a band thread that stuff could go into.

would recommend keeping an eye on basically the whole straight edge hardcore scene then, that opinion is absolutely not out of the ordinary with those people

Original post barely needed to be here. 'moderately popular band has a questionable opinion about drug addiction' isn't really an accountability issue.
