I have heard that Nora Jones record a million times as a teenager working in the family restaurant. I never owned it though and seeing it again (and now hearing it again) gave me so much nostalgia. Great record too.

Have been a little anxious so I hit up some used record stores last week. Sadly the Ahmad Jamal one doesn’t really work all that well, I think the center hole is a little too big or something.

I had a song in my head that I wanted to submit, but couldn't figure out what the song is. It's like, early 2000s hip hop, probably a group of 3+ members, honestly might have been in one of the games, but the lyrics are like.... "what's golden... we're holding on to whats (???) taking it back to whats golden" or something like that..... @The Lucky Moose help.

Kind of pleasantly surprised to not see Turnstile on this one tbh. Militarie Gun, Joyce Manor, and Mannequin Pussy definitely all crossed my mind, too.

    1. Not attacking you, but this narrative is some people on the internet pretending there is a narrative. It is literally the fastest selling console of all time, and the fact that they launched with their biggest franchise is a big reason behind that. 2. I think one problem there is that Odyssey is just so insanely good looking. It holds up so well.

From what I’ve read they’ve been split into two teams or something like that

This is the a-team, so they make Mario. I assume it’s possible that it is big enough that different subteams have been working on both to a certain extent.

I love the prompt of - "if you aren't familiar with the style of music on the soundtrack to the video game Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.... submit a song you'd skateboard to!" Why yes, avid skateboarder, however not familiar with aforementioned video game or its' iconic soundtracks. ;-p

This info is coming from one of those leak sites that are usually correct. I'm a bit disappointed it's only an EP and there's only one new song but at least we're getting something soon.

My thoughts exactly re: the next round. It’s always been kind of funny to me that pop punk is like the main, or only, genre people think of when they think of THPS. Not that there wasn’t any of it, but I always found those OSTs to feature a pretty even spread of backpack-y hip hop, skate punk, and alt rock/nu metal stuff. Even most of the stuff that would be considered pop punk was on the less polished side. I don’t think they ever featured the typical genre poster children like Blink, New Found Glory, etc.

Yeah I don’t think pop punk stands out in particular on those soundtracks at all. Pop punk-ish ska maybe, but not actually if you look at the playlists.

This playlist was really fun. I'm really excited for the next one. Torn because there's a certain pop-punk-adjacent sound that comes to mind when I think about THPS, but also that game introduced me to so much hip-hop. I think hearing "The World Is Yours" in Underground was my first introduction to Nas

This is almost exactly how I feel, to the (Pusha) T. "Chains & Whips" would be infinitely better without Pharrell's bridge.

The Clipse album is cool. Beats just don’t hit as hard as the first two albums though, with some exceptions. Some hooks really hurt their songs I think (Pharrell should have stayed behind the boards). So Be It is an insane song, the beat has like 00s German (specifically NRW) rap vibes, which is a compliment. Unsurprisingly I think the song with Kendrick sucks. It’s awesome that they got Ab Liva on there. Overall I personally expected a little more after all this time, but it’s definitely a good rap album.
