that's not the vibe I get from her crawling away from him, it reads as more desperate and childlike than anything

I'm currently listening to Strange Heavens. I'm like two songs in but I can see the appeal for sure

This is excellent too. I really enjoy it. [MEDIA] It also has a cool story behind it: Jazz Album Review: Exactly on Time - Kenny Wheeler Legacy's "Some Days Are Better: The Lost Scores" - The Arts Fuse

I get it; it's clearly not just you. But to me, this side of Ruston's songwriting has always been there. I guess I'm just surprised at the ire that song is getting, to the point where I've questioned whether people would be reacting the same way if he hadn't straight up said it was written to be pitched out to country artists.

Been listening to a of Jazz this year, but mostly classics. Now digging into some new stuff. These two have been Guardian Jazz albums of the months recently. I enjoy them both, but especially Strange Heavens. [MEDIA] [MEDIA] I also went through this list and found some stuff I think I will enjoy, but haven't listened properly yet, so no specific recommendations as of yet from me. The Lion King comment killed me. I know exactly what you mean. I call it "Australian music" (but doesn't have to actually be Australian, usually is not). Can't quite explain why except for vague associations based on stuff like music videos and commercials in the 00s, but it makes sense to me.

I’m a known cry risk when it comes to most movies, and can come up with probably a dozen television scenes off dome that would send me over the edge on any given day. For some reason, music seldom has that effect on me? At least not when it comes to every-timers. But I will say In This Diary always makes me tear up for some reason lol - hope I’m not stepping on any toes by calling it out. It was used last season so would probably be ill-advised anyway

A lot of these are, or are close enough to, one-hit wonders and I wanted to stay away from those. I went with one where I had a specific radio memory and not just a vague recollection of it being on the radio often/constantly. One I considered was "One Step Closer" by Linkin Park. I remember hearing that on the radio the first time and being like "Yo! That shit is dope." And then it felt like suddenly it was everywhere.

Not sure if you already are, but it's worth reading the comments for each song as you are listening, or before/after listening to the playlist. For example, you'd see the Faker song is from Australian radio which makes sense Back in eighth or ninth grade, there were one or two songs seemingly everywhere on Australian radio. One was Walking on a Dream by Empire of the Sun, which I have heard too many times to have any feeling towards. And then there was this one, which was excellent and it's sad Faker ended up being a one-hit wonder who no one really remembers.

I couldn’t find it in me to not just give every song a point here. This theme was engineered for a bunch of slam dunk picks and that’s exactly what we got The last time I had a job where I was exposed to the radio for 8 hours a day was ~2013, so stuff like that Bastille song really hits. High up on my list of alt picks were the two Zedd singles, Clarity and Stay The Night, for that same reason. Mirrors as well

Man I haven’t heard some of these songs in years! What a blast from the past. There’s also one on here I’m not sure I’ve ever heard - This Heart Attack by Faker.
