Late summer, early fall would be a great time to drop a new Finch album. Just sayin’.

This is much better than I thought it would be. I'm very impressed. Camille is a future star imo.

Great album I understand what @T E A L is saying for sure but I do think the little parts work well as accents more than anything and I'm okay with them not being fleshed out, but I understand the line of thought

this is a feature not a bug imo - leave 'em wanting more. there are a couple songs that drop a killer "chorus" that actually only appears once, inviting you to savour it. (or listen again.) and hey just for balance there are a few straight up verse-chorus-verse "pop" numbers. this sort of restraint is all over the album. it would have been so easy for "body horror for birds" to explode into catharsis at some point but it's very cool to me that it never does, just shimmers and slides for five whole minutes.

Unpopular opinion after one listen through: I would prefer them to further streamline their sound and songwriting. Maybe I'll change my mind as everything continues to gel, but right now the album suffers from the "Oh, man! This part's really goo- ...it's gone..." syndrome.

And Wes Borland on bass, insane stuff. Record was a real "stars aligning" moment and I feel like you can hear it, but I'm not 100% sure normal FFTL fans were ready for something that mature and dark out of them. Incredible to me though, I remember it leaking early and hearing Mothersound and having my mind totally blown.

Great song, I cant believe it's been 10 years since we got any heavy music from Charlie. I hope we get an album this year. They must have at least a few songs already since they're playing Download next month.

New song out now. Charlie’s the vocalist. Sounds like Fightstar without the other guys.

"Small Town Cemetery" is lovely, always enjoy their acoustic songs. Logan sounds great. Album is as death-centric as anything they've done, but the vibes are definitely brighter in a really nice way. Also cool hearing "Motherfucker" finally after reading so many comments about them playing it live, good guitars on that one. Harper's part is gorgeous.

"Emptiness Everywhere" is beautiful, about to get me misty on the bus lol. Kind of sounds like their version of a jangle-pop song.

I feel like the fanbase kind of ignores BTO now, but I spun it a lot when it came out and still think it's a solid piece of the discography. "Inferium" is one of the best songs they've ever written, and "Play Dead" is a JAM

Wow that's something. I can't say I entirely disagree with the sentiment of it but I wouldn't put it as harshly. I will say that calling them a metal band, or at least this album a metal album, seems like mostly a disservice to them and setting the listener up for failure in expectations. I'd hardly consider the album a metal album, which is fine but even Pitchfork listing the genre for the album as metal seems like they're also trying to, once again, set it up for failure.

I’m usually not one to get worked up over lyrics in general, but man, he’s really going through it on Gethsemane. That’s pretty heartbreaking.

"A rock and roll album, people that have heard the album say it sounds a little like a grown up So Long Astoria, and then a couple songs to end the album that sound like nothing we've done before." God damnnn.

Kris just finished a livestream from the studio. He confirmed he has 14 songs for the album, including an old Ataris song from the mid 90s that never got properly recorded. 4 of the songs still need to be finished. [MEDIA]

I’m really enjoying the whole thing. Even though I’d say I’m a fan of heavier music, the softer parts of this album really captivate me (Emergence soft parts, Damocles, parts of Geth and Baths). The band gets PLENTY of hyperbole and hate, but I’ll always be thrilled with five/six/seven minute conceptual, genre fluid songs filled with saxophone, R&B, piano, math rock riffs, blastbeats, breakdowns, and screaming becoming more and more mainstream.

I can't really handle the double album rumors right now. People throwing around September for potential new songs. It seems that lyrics on spotify/apple are being capitalized to spell (so far) The House. Putting my tinfoil hat on, wouldn't it be wild if they drop another LP, The House Must Endure in the fall? That way together its Even In Arcadia, The House Must Endure.
