Started Silksong tonight. Thought this while playing the first game too, but I think Team Cherry is the most Nintendo like studio out of everyone who isnt Nintendo. Really good so far.

Successfully listened tonight. Its a lot to take in in a very positive way. Feels like after Somewhere at the Bottom... and Wildlife, they changed directions a bit and this is going back and continuing on down that road. Lots of standouts but Top Sellers Banquet and I Dreamt of a Room are the most impactful.

Just took this on a walk. Listened to the first 3 songs thinking 'can't believe no one has mentioned how bad the production is' before realizing my headphones are broken. Gonna try again tomorrow.

In the same boat unfortunately. Also think 'The end of you is the start of life for me' is a very clunky hook. It is very fun to have them all together though.

Beating Bananza gave me the itch to finally play through DK64, so I'm looking forward to it landing on NSO.

Still really liking Hell Is Us. Very much my kind of game. Might do the unthinkable and put off playing Silksong till I beat it.

I just think Hell is Us wears it’s influenced a little too on its sleeve and the music is aping The Haxan Cloak’s work on Returnal to the point of parody. It just rubs me the wrong way. I do think the exploration is great though and I’ve read the funniest takes from the dumbest people already (“this game is too obtuse. I got lost in the woods right away” … you couldn’t waterboard shit like that out of me.) I do applaud it continuing the trend of games that make you pay attention. I have this huge pet peeve of people just consuming content “on the side” (i.e. people on their phones during moves) so anything to combat that is welcome in my book.

I also played a little Hell is Us last night but let's just say my reading of that game isn't as charitable.

Been playing Hell Is Us today and yesterday because I am a sucker who but the advanced access, but I am really enjoying it so far. Feels like they focused a lot on the atmosphere and exploration aspects of a From game rather than the difficult combat. Enemy variety is not great so far, but its forgivable for me since I am enjoying the other parts of it so much. Trust that the player can figure things out by themselves is very important to me and this has that in spades. One caveat though, the game is about the atrocities that humans commit against each other during war so it can be pretty bleak to say the least. Maybe not what everyone wants to be interfacing with at this point in history. imo, its done well - don't think anything has been cheap or gratuitous so far - but still, fair warning.
